Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is an enhanced edition of the 2021 role-playing game Shin Megami Tensei V, the ninth entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series. It is being developed by Atlus and will be released worldwide on for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam on June 14, 2024. It was announced on February 21, 2024.[1]
Vengeance features new story content and characters, modified battle gameplay, additional Demons, as well as quality of life changes. The game most notably features two story routes that can be chosen at the beginning: the "Canon of Creation",[a] which features the original story presented in Shin Megami Tensei V; and "Canon of Vengeance",[b] a new alternative story that diverges from the original in its latter half.
This version replaced Shin Megami Tensei V on the Nintendo eShop on June 14th 2024, making it the only version available to purchase.[2]

Revenge Awaits
The story starts with two different story paths. The first, Canon of Creation, follows the original story told in Shin Megami Tensei V. The second, Canon of Vengeance, features a new story: a dramatic tale of revenge by the fallen. Immersive new gameplay elements have been added to the battle system, Demon Fusion, and exploration. |

- At the start of the game, the player chooses between two routes, the original Shin Megami Tensei V story "Canon of Creation" and a new route called "Canon of Vengeance". The latter is largely the same as the former until it diverges in its latter half.[3]
- A new character Yoko Hiromine is added. She wields magic and participates in battle in some fashion.[3]
- 40 new demons are added to the game, including Nahobiho, a demon resembling a fusion of Jack Frost and Nahobino.[4]
- A new area to explore is added.[4]
- Various new quests are included.[4]
- New demon interactions are added.[3]
- The DLC quests A Goddess in Training, The Doctor's Last Wish, The Rage of a Queen, and Return of the True Demon from the original game will be included in the base game of Vengeance.[3] The Mitamas remain as paid DLC.
- Owners of the original game can cross three demons over to their compendium in Vengeance, and will have various small bonuses.[3]
- The player can now rotate the minimap.[3]
- An item allows reallocating the stats of the protagonist is added.[3]
- The level cap can be increased from 99 to 150 when certain conditions are met.[5]
- Growth items like Gospels can now be used in bulk.[5]
- The player can now save anywhere.[3]
- Demons Dagda and Konohana Sakuya will be available as DLC on launch day.[3]

Vengeance was originally announced with a release date of June 21st, 2024. On March 20th, Atlus announced that the release date would be moved forward by one week to June 14th, 2024.
