Profile
Origin
The cherubim, also known as the living creatures, are celestial beings mentioned in the Bible. After Adam and Eve are banished from Eden, God places cherubim at the east side of the Garden of Even (Genesis 3:24). More information on cherubim is given in the Book of Ezekiel. Chapter 1 describes them as have the form of a man, four faces, four wings, feet like that of a calf, and hands like that of a man. Their four faces were that of a man, that of a lion, that of an ox, and that of an eagle. Additionally, when they move, they do not turn their bodies to change direction. Chapter 10 gives the additional description of having eyes all over their entire bodies. Chapter 28 mentions a cherub that was in the Garden of Eden.
According Pseudo-Dionysius's On the Celestial Hierarchy, cherubim are the second highest rank of angels; this celestial hierarchy is accepted by the Roman Catholic Church and the Eastern Orthodox Church.

Trivia
- In Shin Megami Tensei II, Ophanim's depiction closely resembles a Cherub as described in the Book of Ezekiel (having the heads of a human, a lion, an ox, and an eagle), suggesting that Ophanim may have been a misnomer and that the demon was actually intended to be a Cherub.
- Leftover data and art assets for Cherub exist within Shin Megami Tensei: Nine's code.[1]
