Game Appearances
Persona 4
Yukiko's Castle formed from Yukiko Amagi's thoughts of wanting to run away combined with the expectations of Midnight Channel viewers. It is styled as a European castle to counter Yukiko's image as a traditional Yamato Nadeshiko who works at a ryokan that doubles as her family's home.[1] The castle is visited automatically on April 17th. After getting to the 2nd floor and fighting Chie Satonaka's Shadow, the party leaves for the day. It can be visited on the player's own time starting April 18th. As the protagonist, Yosuke, and Chie explore the castle, they finally reach Yukiko and her Shadow on the 8th floor.
The dungeon's fog weather deadline is April 29th. If the protagonist fails to meet the deadline, he will hear sirens then get a call from Yosuke, letting him know that Yukiko's dead body was discovered.
Anime Appearances
Persona 4 The Animation
In episode 3, Yu, Yosuke, and Chie see Yukiko's Shadow on the Midnight Channel. The next day, the three enter Yukiko's Castle together, and Chie runs into her Shadow. They leave at the end of the episode, then return in episode 4 where they make it to the throne room, find Yukiko, and defeat her Shadow. During the battle, Yukiko herself is locked in a smaller bird cage.
Manga Appearances
Persona 4
Yukiko's Shadow is shown running into the castle on the Midnight Channel at the end of chapter 7. Afterwards, Soji, Yosuke, and Chie go into the TV World, and chapters 8-10 depict the events that unfold in the dungeon which play out the same as the game.
Trivia
- In the Developer Comments, Atlus says that Yukiko's Castle is specifically based on Neuschwanstein.[2]
