Yukiko Amagi
Yukiko Amagi is a character in Persona 4. She is a second year at Yasogami High School and member of the Investigation Team. Her family owns the Amagi Inn.
Profile
Yukiko Amagi is a 2nd year student at Yasogami High School and one of the protagonist's classmates he meets on his first day of school. Her family runs the Amagi Inn, known among the locals as a tourist destination. The inn's fame and her traditional looks bring Yukiko unwanted attention,[2] especially from guys who try to ask her out.[3][4] Due to her always turning them down, the ritual of asking her out has become known as the "Amagi Challenge". As a family-owned inn operated out of the family home usually passes from mother to daughter, Yukiko and the people of Inaba assume she will one day inherit it. But Yukiko feels trapped, and her uncertainty about the inn is the source of her inner conflict. After she is kidnapped and thrown into the TV World, this conflict reflects in her Shadow: a western-style princess who is trying to flirt with men and find someone to take her far away from Inaba. After her experience in the TV World, she begins reacting to men differently[5] and, in her Social Link, expresses a desire to be independent.
At school, Yukiko is known for having good grades and scoring well on exams.[5] She is polite and quiet around those she is less familiar with, leading to some of her would-be suitors to have images of her in their minds.[6] She becomes more open when interacting with those she knows, such as her childhood friend Chie Satonaka. As the protagonist gets to know her during his year in Inaba, he becomes a victim of her recipe-less cooking, discovers her surprisingly loud laugh that can be set off by the most random of things, and witnesses her deadpan, dark sense of humor.[7][8] Yukiko also has an inexplicable fascination with "legends" and lights up when the word is mentioned.[9][10]
Yukiko usually wears clothes with a red or black color scheme, such as the red cardigan she wears over her Yasogami High uniform and her red headband. When helping out at the family inn, she wears a pink kimono. In the TV World, she uses a pair of red frame glasses with a double nose bridge made for her by Teddie. During her cameo in Persona 3 Portable, Yukiko is a 3rd year middle school student with shorter bob-cut hair and a white headband.
Persona 4's character designer Shigenori Soejima designed Yukiko in a way that would resemble a "stereotypical Japanese beauty,"[11] putting additional focus into her eyes and eyebrows.[12] Yukiko's bangs were also designed intricately, with Soejima leaving them uneven and parted to prevent her from being "too creepy."[13] Upon visiting an unnamed city to observe what rural people looked like, Soejima found they all looked like people he would find in Tokyo. Instead, he made the designs of Persona 4 with retro imagery in mind, following the stereotype that "rural = outdated", and Yukiko's hairband is one of these retro design elements.[14] Soejima's first design for Yukiko had her in a sweater. He prefers that look over the button up cardigan she wears in-game as he feels it looks more retro.[15]

Persona 4
April 2011
Yukiko first appears on April 12th, during the protagonist's first day of school. Some other students in class 2-2 ask her if the TV reporter Mayumi Yamano is staying at the Amagi Inn, and Chie asks if she watched the Midnight Channel. After class gets dismissed, Chie and Yukiko walk home with the protagonist. Outside the school gates, a boy from a different school waits for Yukiko to try and ask her out. Yukiko indirectly rejects the boy, saying she has no idea what he wants. Chie tells her he was trying to ask her out, but Yukiko seems in disbelief. Other boys who see this unfold mention that the ritual of asking Yukiko out is known as the Amagi Challenge. Yosuke has also tried asking Yukiko out, but she does not remember "rejecting him". Yosuke tries again, but she says she would rather not do anything with him. While walking through the roads near school, Chie tells the protagonist about Yukiko's family inn and even calls it the only thing that keeps the town going. Yukiko downplays this, saying it's just an old establishment. Chie further embarrasses Yukiko, telling the protagonist she has never had a boyfriend despite being so popular. Shortly after, the three come across a crime scene where a corpse was discovered, and Ryotaro Dojima suggests they all head straight home. Following this, Yukiko and Chie go home and agree to go to Junes on another day.
On the 13th and 14th, the Amagi Inn becomes busy, and Yukiko tells Chie that she is unable to hangout as she is busy helping at the inn. Yosuke assumes she is already training to take over one day, but Yukiko quickly denies this. After his visit to the TV World on the 15th, the protagonist sees Yukiko near the Samegawa Flood Plain while she is out running an errand for the inn. The protagonist learns that she has never left Inaba before. Yukiko talks about her friendship with Chie and how the two used to cut class together when they were first years and in the same homeroom class. The protagonist watches a news broadcast at nighttime where a reporter interviews Yukiko. The reporter mistakenly assumes she is taking over as the manager and thinks the inn has a lot of male visitors due to how beautiful Yukiko is. Yukiko does not show up at school on the 16th, and Chie gets concerned that she might have been thrown into the TV World. Chie later gets ahold of Yukiko's phone and finds out she was absent because the inn has a large group staying there. However, when the protagonist watches the Midnight Channel that same night, he sees a version of Yukiko on the TV dressed as a princess, proclaiming that she is going to hunt for her prince charming and score herself a stud.
The protagonist, Yosuke, and Chie end up at the police station on April 17th. There, they learn that Yukiko has gone missing. Furthermore, her mother collapsed after Yamano criticized the inn's service, and Detective Adachi thinks that Yukiko might be connected to Mayumi's murder, hence why she has gone missing. When the protagonist, Yosuke, Chie, and Teddie reach the top floor of Yukiko's Castle, they find Yukiko there alongside Shadow Yukiko. The Shadow talks about wanting to run away from Inaba and wishing she could be saved, but not having the strength to do so on her own. However, after Shadow Yukiko insults the inn and looks down on it for being traditional and being called the pride of Inaba, Yukiko rejects that the Shadow is her, causing it to transform into a bird.
After the Investigation Team defeats her Shadow, Yosuke tells Yukiko that everyone has a side they cannot show others, and Chie apologizes as she has realized that she needs Yukiko, not the other way around. Yukiko accepts that part of her did want to run away and wanted to be saved, and she admits that her Shadow really is her. This acceptance transforms her Shadow into Konohana Sakuya, her own Persona. Yukiko collapses shortly after. The others ask her questions, but she does not remember anything about being thrown into the TV. Yukiko pets Teddie on the head and asks him to be good and wait until they come back. That evening, the protagonist hears from Dojima and Adachi that Yukiko has returned home. They questioned her about her disappearance, but she said she remembered nothing. Adachi finds it suspicious and thinks Yukiko is hiding something, but Dojima smacks him and tells him to quit talking, saying that it's just a fantasy.
Yukiko returns to school on April 30th. She apologizes to the protagonist for all the trouble and mentions that her mother returned to work after the Mayumi incident. After school, Yosuke again asks Yukiko if she remembers anything. Unfortunately, Yukiko can only recall that the doorbell rang and someone had asked for her, then she woke up in the castle. She formally joins the Investigation Team to help out solving the murder as she wants to know why she was targeted. The group ends up going to Junes after the protagonist and Yosuke eat the girls' instant noodles, then into the TV World, where Teddie presents Yukiko with her own pair of red half-frame glasses. Teddie also has a pair of glasses he messed up on that look similar to Groucho glasses. Yukiko thinks the pair is hilarious. She makes Chie try them on and begins laughing hysterically. Yosuke is shocked by this side of Yukiko that he has never seen before, while Chie finds this normal for Yukiko but is surprised that she's laughing like that in front of someone other than Chie.
May 3rd - June 6th, 2011
As a member of the Investigation Team and the protagonist's classmate, Yukiko appears during significant story moments and school-related events. On May 3rd, during Golden Week, Yukiko goes to Junes with the rest of the Investigation Team and meets Nanako Dojima. After Golden Week, the group talks about studying for their midterms. Yosuke asks Yukiko for some "private lessons", but unlike how Yukiko seemed oblivious to men before her experience in the TV World, this time she reacts poorly to Yosuke's words and slaps him. She apologizes, saying she thought he was trying to tell an inappropriate joke based on how the inn has had some weird visitors lately.
A figure appears again on the Midnight Channel, and the group gathers at Junes on May 15th to discuss. They remember that when Yukiko first appeared, she did not have a clearly defined image and assume that the less clear image they saw the night before means the next victim is safe for now. Yukiko believes they can prevent him from being thrown in, and Yosuke hopes they can even catch the killer. Chie repeats what Yosuke says, and Yukiko begins laughing after Yosuke gets mad at her for repeating what he said. Yosuke himself is in disbelief that this is Yukiko's real personality. The following day, everyone realizes that the person on the Midnight Channel is Kanji Tatsumi. Yukiko is familiar with Kanji and has known him since he was younger. She takes the others to his mother's store, Tatsumi Textiles, to see if they can talk to Kanji, but they find someone else at the store with Kanji's mother. Yosuke tries to get Yukiko's phone number, but after Chie brings up how Yosuke texts her sex jokes at night, Yukiko proceeds to ignore Yosuke entirely.
On May 17th, the protagonist and Yukiko are tasked with staking out Tatsumi Textiles. She buys the protagonist a drink, and the two talk while waiting for signs of Kanji or the kidnapper. The protagonist forms a bond with Yukiko, and she gives him her phone number for the sake of the investigation. At nighttime, Yukiko calls the protagonist and tells him that Kanji has been missing since earlier that day. Sure enough, a clearer image of Kanji appears on the Midnight Channel that evening, and they realize he has been thrown into the TV. On their next TV World visit, the fox from Tatsuhime Shrine joins them at Junes. Yukiko remembers seeing it at the shrine and thinks it would be a valuable ally in the TV after hearing about how it can heal them. When the Investigation Team has a clue they can give to Teddie to search for Kanji inside the TV, they find him inside the Steamy Bathhouse.
When Kanji recovers and returns to school, Yukiko and the others take him to their secret hideout at Junes. After discussing the case with Kanji, they realize that everyone who died or was thrown in first appeared on the regular TV news before they were on the Midnight Channel. Yukiko recalls she was on the news on April 15th, helping confirm this pattern. When they take Kanji into the TV and introduce him to Teddie, Kanji asks Yukiko if she was also "exposed", referring to the things her Shadow said, but Yukiko assumes it means something dirty and slaps Kanji. After, Yukiko messes with him and gives him the gag glasses instead of the real ones Teddie made for him.
June 10th - July 10th, 2011
On June 10th, Yukiko reminds the group of the upcoming rainy summer season. Yosuke thought she was concerned about the rain due to their upcoming school camping trip, and he learns from Chie and Yukiko that the "camping trip" is really about picking up trash on Mt. Yasogami, cooking their own food, and messing around at the headstream of the Samegawa. The protagonist, Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko are all in the same group together. On June 16th, Chie and Yukiko go to Junes with the protagonist to shop for curry ingredients. However, Chie nor Yukiko knows much about cooking. Chie tries to defer to Yukiko since her family runs the Amagi Inn, but Yukiko is wrong about which flour to use and what kind of flavors to include.
On June 17th, during the camping trip, Chie and Yukiko's inedible curry concoction is dubbed Mystery Food X by Yosuke, and their group ends up without any food. At night, Yukiko and Chie are in the same tent as Hanako Ohtani, and her snoring is so loud that Yukiko wants to smother her with a pillow. After Kanji runs into their tent due to Yosuke's goading, the two girls end up at the protagonist and Yosuke's tent and beg to be let in so they do not get caught out by their homeroom teacher. The following day, Yosuke guilt trips Chie and Yukiko into putting on swimsuits he brought from Junes by bringing up how their food was terrible, and they saved them last night by letting them in the boys' tent. Yosuke crosses the line when he gawks at the girls in swimsuits and talks about them developing into women, causing both Chie and Yukiko to push Yosuke and the protagonist into the Samegawa. After seeing Kanji's nose bleeding, Yukiko gets grossed out and pushes Kanji in too.
Shortly after, Rise Kujikawa announces she is going back home to Inaba. On June 20th, Yukiko mentions that Rise's Grandmother's tofu shop must be Marukyu Tofu, which her family's inn used until recently. Once the group determines Rise might be the next victim, Yukiko comes along on June 23rd when the group and Adachi stake out the store. She draws the group's attention to a suspicious person on a pole, and everyone chases him, assuming he must be the murderer. Once they return to the store after capturing the suspicious man, they discover Rise has gone out. Yukiko is concerned as none of the neighbors have seen her, and she supposedly left without saying anything. Her concerns come true at night when a clear image of Rise appears on the Midnight Channel. The Investigation Team enters the TV together and talks to Teddie who brings up "scoring a stud" again, and Yukiko asks if he can stop that already as it reminds her of her Shadow. Once the group has found clues about Rise to locate her in the TV, they regroup at Junes where Yukiko expresses her frustration that they even knew who would be targeted but could not stop it this time. In Rise's dungeon, Marukyu Striptease, the group fights both Rise and Teddie's Shadows. Yukiko supports Teddie, telling him they will learn more about him as they go along. After getting Rise out of the TV, Yukiko and Chie take her back to her grandmother's house.
On July 10th, Morooka is found dead, much to the shock of the Investigation Team. Yukiko begins to wonder if the Midnight Channel has nothing to do with the murders, and the whole group is down as they failed to prevent someone from dying, but Kanji tells them to keep going. In the food court, Teddie reveals he now has a human body. Chie and Yukiko help pick clothes at Junes for Teddie, which Chie charges to Yosuke.
July 23rd - August 31st, 2011
Come July 23rd, everyone has finished their first semester finals, and the police have taken a suspect in the murder case into custody, but they overhear the suspect has gone missing. A few days later, a boy appears on the Midnight Channel. When discussing this the following day, Yukiko shares her hunch that he might be the culprit. Yosuke thinks this is possible, as if he intentionally went into the TV to avoid the cops. The protagonist obtains the suspect's photo and learns he is named Mitsuo Kubo. Chie realizes from his photo that he is the same boy who tried to ask Yukiko out on the first day of school. The others recount their experiences with them and realize they all had incidents with him that could have led to them being targeted. After locating Mitsuo in Void Quest and dragging him out of the TV, Mitsuo is amused that now Yukiko wants to talk to him as she tries to discover why and how he kidnapped her and the other victims.
In the aftermath, the Investigation Team regroups in the food court. Yukiko expresses how they went through a lot this summer, and Teddie brings up her Shadow again, saying that "scoring a stud" is something they went through. Kanji, who was not around when Yukiko confronted her Shadow, is confused by this, and Yukiko snaps at him, saying she is sure he would like everyone to forget about the bathhouse. The group competes to make the best omelette fried rice for Nanako to celebrate Kubo's capture. Kanji and the protagonist try Yukiko's creation. Kanji finds it "sterile", which upsets Yukiko as that is not a word you even use to describe food, and also impressively tasteless considering how many ingredients are in it. The protagonist feels similarly, thinking it to be utterly devoid of flavor. Nanako tries it and says that she thinks it's good, which makes Yukiko quite happy. Yukiko gets to try Chie's, which she happily laughs about while saying it's awful, and Rise's, which is so spicy she faints.
During the omelette cook off, Yosuke proposes the group and Nanako all go to the summer festival at Tatsuhime Shrine together. Come August 20th, the day of the festival, the girls gather at Yukiko's house first and get dressed in summer yukata before meeting up with the guys at the shrine. Teddie goes to the booths with Chie, Yukiko, and Rise while the other guys are left alone. As the girls and Teddie walk off together, Yukiko can be heard yelling at Teddie for getting ketchup on her blue yukata. To celebrate the end of summer, the protagonist calls everyone over to the Dojima Residence on August 31st to share a watermelon. There, Yukiko and the others promise to keep Nanako company next year too.
September 8th - October 7th, 2011
Yukiko goes on the Yasogami High school trip to Tatsumi Port Island from September 8th through 10th. At Gekkoukan High School, she tries to look at the bright side and encourages her friends to get through the lectures and enjoy their free time later. When visiting Club Escapade, Rise and Yukiko somehow get drunk while playing the King's Game despite the club no longer serving alcohol. After two rounds of the game, Yukiko demands they tell embarrassing things about themselves, and picks Naoto to go first. Naoto uses this conversation to try and get information about the murder investigation out of the group. Still drunk, Yukiko tells Naoto the truth: They enter the TV and use their Personas to fight Shadows and save the kidnapped people. However, Naoto thinks that Yukiko is making things up. Shortly after, Yukiko passes out. The Investigation Team and Naoto eat at Hagakure Ramen the next day. Yukiko says she does not remember what happened at the club. Teddie eats the rest of Yukiko's ramen when she isn't paying attention, but he ends up too full to move. Yukiko gets upset at him stealing her ramen and demands they leave him there.
On September 15th, another person appears on the Midnight Channel, but the Investigation Team thinks the case is over. Yukiko asks the others if they feel that the atmosphere in Inaba has been weird lately. She has noticed people being unusually cheerful and talking about others and wonders if people are all afraid of something. That same night, Naoto appears on the Midnight Channel. When the Investigation Team regroups at Junes, Yukiko figures out that Naoto appeared on the news and gave an interview to lure out the killer, thus proving that the case was far from over. After getting a clue for Rise to locate Naoto within the TV World, the team finds Naoto in the Secret Laboratory. There, they learn that Naoto is a girl who has been posing as a boy. After defeating Shadow Naoto, Yukiko and Kanji talk to Naoto and help her vocalize her desire to be taken seriously as a detective, regardless of age or gender. After Naoto recovers from her time in the TV World, she insists the entire group and Teddie get medical examinations. Yukiko gets embarrassed when Rise steals her chart and sees her bust measurement.
October 21st - October 31st, 2011
On October 20th, the protagonist receives a threatening letter, which he brings to school the next day and shows to the rest of the team. Yukiko believes it is too specific to be a prank letter and wonders how the killer knows their identity. Meanwhile, class 2-2 prepares for the school's culture festival. On October 22nd, Yukiko votes on Yosuke's suggestion for a group date cafe out of curiosity, and the idea wins. Yosuke's hijinks continue on October 27th when he enters Yukiko and the other girls on the Investigation Team into the beauty contest. The next day, Yosuke finds out that Chie signed up the boys for the crossdressing contest in retaliation. Yukiko strongarms Kanji into doing it by reminding him of the mandatory attendance policy and how Kashiwagi won't show anyone mercy if they try to drop out. She promises the guys will all look beautiful when they're done with them.
On the first day of the culture festival, Yukiko helps run the group date cafe in class 2-2. But no one visits the cafe, and they try to run it with five people from class 2-2 and Kanji as the 6th person. Yukiko gets embarrassed during the cafe when asked who she wants to date. On the second day of the culture festival, Yukiko is in charge of the protagonist's outfit and makeup for the crossdressing contest. She turns him into a female school delinquent with braided pigtails and a bamboo sword. While watching the contest, Yukiko feels quite happy seeing Teddie in his Alice in Wonderland costume, but her mood immediately turns sour after Teddie declares that the girls' beauty contest later that day will include swimsuits. At the beauty contest, Yukiko introduces herself and advertises the Amagi Inn, inviting the audience to come and stay there. During the judging period, Teddie embarrasses Yukiko by asking her if she has ever kissed anyone before.
Following the contest's conclusion, Yukiko invites Nanako and the rest of the Investigation Team to stay at the Amagi Inn that night. Due to them having fewer visitors, they have some vacant rooms, and there is no issue if the group stays there. The girls race with Nanako in the open-air hot spring. Yukiko is shocked when Teddie suddenly jumps into the water and lands on her. Seeing the boys there, the girls all begin throwing bamboo buckets at them until they leave. After, Yukiko realizes she got the time wrong for when the girls are allowed to use the bath; it is actually the boy's time right now.

Nanako appears on the Midnight Channel on the evening of November 5th. After hearing that Dojima took the protagonist into the station, Yukiko and the Investigation Team gather there. While trying to determine who the suspect might be, Yukiko recalls how the culprit rang her doorbell and believes that whatever vehicle the culprit is using must have been seen multiple times by now due to how many times people have been kidnapped. Together, they determine it must be Taro Namatame. In the TV World, the team finds Namatame and Nanako in Heaven. Namatame claims that he saved everyone he kidnapped, but Yukiko tells him they almost died. Namatame agrees with her that they "almost" died and reiterates his belief that he saved them all by kidnapping them and throwing them into the TV. After fighting a transformed Namatame, the team rescues Nanako and brings Namatame with them. On November 21st, Adachi lets the group know they can start visiting Nanako in the hospital, and Yukiko goes with the protagonist after school that day to see her.
December 3rd - December 25th, 2011

Yukiko and the others are all present when Nanako flatlines in the hospital on December 3rd. The group enters Namatame's unguarded hospital room after hearing a noise from inside. Naoto observes the large screen TV in the room and reminds the others that Namatame has no Persona and no way to escape from the TV World. Yosuke thinks it is time to take matters into their own hands and prepares to throw Namatame into the TV. The protagonist manages to get Yosuke to calm down and convinces everyone that something does not make sense. Yukiko agrees with him that they all need to stay calm.
The team realizes there is a contradiction between the letter they received and Namatame thinking he is "saving" people. When questioning him on December 4th, he recalls seeing Yukiko on the Midnight Channel and trying to report it to the police to prevent her death. But the police were useless, and Namatame decided to take matters into his own hands by kidnapping Yukiko and putting her into the TV, thinking it would prevent her from dying. When Yukiko showed up safe in Inaba, he thought he was successful and continued "saving" people.
Knowing that Namatame is not the murderer, Yukiko and the rest of the Investigation Team try to question people around the Central Shopping District about the murders and things that happened back in April, but they turn up nothing. The protagonist brings up Adachi as a possible suspect. Yukiko is in disbelief that it could be him, as he showed up at the Amagi Inn back in April, saying he was there to protect Yamano from the media. Naoto, who previously worked on the case, immediately finds this suspicious. As the group discusses other strange things about Adachi, Yukiko realizes it might really be him. Following this lead, they question Adachi at the hospital, and he runs away into Namatame's hospital room. However, no one is in the room, and Yukiko looks at the large screen TV and suggests he went into the TV World.
Teddie returns to the group and on December 7th, he locates Adachi in Mayumi Yamano's dungeon, the Desolate Bedroom. Adachi recaps to the group what he has been up to since April, and Yukiko is upset to hear that he killed Mayumi in the lobby of the Amagi Inn. Yukiko asks him his motivation for doing all this, but Adachi replies he has no reason; he just did it because he could.
The team takes Adachi's threat about the TV World and the real world merging by the end of the year seriously, and they confront him in Magatsu Inaba to put an end to it. Adachi tries to justify his actions, but none of the Investigation Team agrees with him. Yukiko finds him contradictory as he hates his life but is in no hurry to die either. And instead of trying to improve his own life, he behaves like a child throwing a tantrum, and is now trying to change the world into something he only wants. This remark gets a reaction out of Adachi. After facing Adachi, a being called Ameno-sagiri takes over his body and explains how the TV World and Midnight Channel work. From what Ame says, Yukiko determines that their Shadows tried to attack them when they showed a longing for the truth. Once Ame has been defeated, it removes the fog from the real world, and the Investigation Team celebrates in the clear, fog-less shopping district.
Nanako and Dojima are temporarily released from the hospital for Christmas, and Yukiko and the other girls bake a cake to celebrate. Kanji and Yosuke are surprised the cake tastes great despite the previous kitchen mishaps.

After finishing up at the inn, she visits the Junes food court with Chie and finds the others gathered there. Yukiko remembers how Chie first told her about the Midnight Channel, and the group begins wondering where the rumor about the Midnight Channel even came from. This leads the protagonist to discover Izanami. Yosuke, Chie, and Yukiko show up at the gas station and learn from the protagonist that the mystery is not quite over. When they regroup at Junes, Yukiko recalls from Edogawa's lecture in September that Izanami and Izanagi's names come from the verb "to invite", and she wonders if Izanami also "invited" them to play a role in the events of the past year. Together, the Investigation Team faces and defeats Izanami in Yomotsu Hirasaka and sees the TV World's true form, finally free from the fog.
Yukiko comes to see the protagonist off at the train station on March 21st. She invites everyone to come and stay at the Amagi Inn again during Golden Week. As the protagonist's train leaves, the Investigation Team chases it to the end of the platform while yelling goodbye.
Other Endings

If the Investigation Team is unable to save Kanji by the June 4th fog deadline, Yukiko calls the protagonist and lets him know that Kanji's dead body was found.
On December 3rd, if the protagonist agrees with Yosuke and wants to push Namatame into the TV, Yukiko asks if there is really no other way except revenge. While she does not particularly agree with this, she does not voice her disagreement and ultimately remains in the room while they push Namatame into the TV. Alternatively, if the protagonist disagrees with Yosuke but cannot convince his friends to pursue the truth, Yukiko is relieved that the protagonist is against this. She wants to keep making memories with her friends and does not want murder to be one of those memories. She reminds them that no one has died yet, but even if there is another kidnapping, then they can just rescue them like before. They discover that Nanako miraculously recovered, but Yukiko is upset as no one knows where Teddie went. In both endings, time skips forward to March 21st, and Yukiko offers to give the protagonist a room at the Amagi Inn next time he is in town.
On December 5th, if the protagonist is unable to name the murderer, time skips forward to March 21st and it is still foggy in Inaba. Yukiko offers to give the protagonist a room at the Amagi Inn next time he is in town.
On March 20th, if the protagonist returns to the Dojima Residence without discovering the true mastermind, then on March 21st, Yukiko appears outside the station to see the protagonist off and invites everyone to come back to the inn and stay over again.
Priestess Social Link
Yukiko's Priestess Social Link begins automatically on May 17th when she and the protagonist are staking out Tatsumi Textiles. After seeing her Shadow in the TV World and how it said she was helpless and waiting for someone to save her, Yukiko desires to become more independent. She confides in the protagonist that she plans on leaving Inaba and not inheriting the family inn. She is considering becoming an interior decorator and wants to study to get a job license. She also needs to learn how to cook so she can live independently and asks the kitchen staff at the inn to help her while claiming that she wants to learn how to cook for a boy. When Kasai sees Yukiko and the protagonist together at Tatsuhime Shrine, she gets the impression that the protagonist is Yukiko's boyfriend and tells the other staff at the inn.
During rank 5, the protagonist sees Yukiko talking with men in suits. She explains that they are from a gossip TV show called News of the Weird that wanted to run a special on the Amagi Inn. Yukiko understands why her mother turned them down, but part of her thinks that if the TV show had done the special, the inn would eventually shut down, and she wouldn't feel as guilty about leaving Inaba.
The crew from News of the Weird returns on rank 8. They tricked the Amagis into agreeing to an interview by pretending to be a travel show and are now looking for Yukiko. When the TV crew finds her at the shrine, the reporter suggests filming Yukiko bathing in the hot springs to get a lot of TV viewers and bring in new customers for the inn. Kasai gets offended on her behalf, but Yukiko is content to let him run his mouth until he leaves. The reporter gets upset with her after hearing this and, similar to her Shadow, begins insulting the inn for being traditional. He recommends they change it into a brothel full of young girls. Yukiko tells him to shut up and threatens to complain to the show's sponsors. The crew thinks this is going poorly, and they finally leave.
When the protagonist meets with Yukiko again, she has decided not to leave Inaba after all. She admits that the idea of being the inn's manager never bothered her, but feeling like she had no say in the matter did. Now, she has made up her mind and wants to take care of the inn. After, she asks the protagonist why he is always with her. Has he developed feelings for her, or does he consider her a good friend?
If the protagonist only considers Yukiko a good friend, she brings another lunch for the protagonist to try. He thinks it's delicious, though she confesses the inn's head chef made most of it. If the protagonist confesses to Yukiko, she returns his feelings and later comes to his bedroom. Even though Yukiko has decided to stay in Inaba, she is still learning how to cook and studying to get a job license. She thought she wanted to be independent, but Yukiko has since realized that she is only the person she is, thanks to everyone around her who has supported her. After resolving to stay of her own will, her Persona changes into Amaterasu.
Before leaving Inaba, the protagonist can tell Yukiko goodbye at the Amagi Inn on March 20th so long as he has maxed out her Social Link.
Once the protagonist has started dating Yukiko, he can do certain events with her as his girlfriend. On August 21st, she invites him to the shrine festival. She wishes it could have just been the two of them the day before. They eat food from the stalls together and get tickets for the prize lottery. When they use their lottery draws, the protagonist wins a free night's stay in the Pine Room at the Amagi Inn and a photograph of Yukiko. Yukiko gets furious and confiscates his prize. The man in charge of the lottery instead gives the protagonist Yukiko's prize, a book called "The Divine Way". On December 23rd, the protagonist plans to spend Christmas Eve with Yukiko. He gets a strawberry cake for them to share, and she gifts him a Leather Keychain to take with him when he goes back home. Yukiko turns red and asks if she can spend the night; she already told her parents that she would be sleeping over at Chie's, so no one expects her home.
Chariot Social Link
While Yukiko does not appear in the Chariot events, she comes up as a topic in Chie's Social Link. Chie's childhood friend Takeshi Kouno has a crush on Yukiko. Similar to Yosuke, he is in disbelief at Yukiko's personality being so cheerful and how loud her laugh is. He thinks Chie has rubbed off on her, and he prefers Yukiko to be more quiet. Chie also brings up how the two met as children: Yukiko wanted to keep a pet dog, but her parents told her she was not allowed to keep a pet, and she ran away from home with the dog. Chie found her after that, and ended up taking the dog home. Ever since then, the two have been friends, and Chie wanted to protect her. But after what happened in the TV World, Chie realized she needed to start thinking about herself too.
Persona 4 Golden
Yukiko is involved in multiple new scenes for Golden.
On May 7th, there is a blackout at school, and Yukiko tries to tell Chie a ghost story.
By July 25th, Yosuke reports that his scooter has been fixed after Operation Up Close and Personal. Yukiko remembers that the inn has a scooter that the inn staff uses sometimes. Her, Chie, and Rise all decide to get their licenses, too, so they can ride their scooters to the beach during summer vacation with the guys. By August 15th, the girls all have their licenses, and the group finally rides to Shichiri Beach together on August 23rd. The protagonist helps Yukiko swim, and she can be heard asking him not to let go. When Kanji loses his speedo and covers up in seaweed, Yukiko and the other girls are all grossed out and run away. After, they play in the sand with Teddie. Chie wants to play a competitive game, but Yukiko suggests they all gang up on Teddie and bury him.
On August 30th, Yukiko watches the fireworks with the rest of the Investigation Team, Nanako, and Dojima. She picks the group's viewing spot on the mountain, having known about it since she passes by the area frequently.
In October, Yosuke asks Rise to have a live event at Junes, and she agrees, but only if the rest of the group performs with her. On October 8th and 9th, Yukiko learns how to play the saxophone for the event. At first, she repeatedly tries blowing, but no noise comes out. On the 9th, she finally gets a single note out of it and realizes her instrument isn't broken after all. Everyone performs True Story together on the 10th and watches as Teddie goes crowd surfing.
The group plans to welcome in the New Year together at Tatsuhime Shrine. The boys expect the girls to come in kimonos and are disappointed when they show up in regular clothes. Yukiko tells Yosuke the girls are too out of his league to bother putting on kimonos. After the clock strikes midnight, Rise wants alcoholic amazake, but Yosuke recalls what happened at Club Escapade and forbids both her and Yukiko from getting any.
Yosuke organizes a skiing and snowboarding trip with an overnight stay at a guest house. They originally planned to go early in January, but the protagonist falls ill, and the trip is delayed until February 11th, after their exams. Yukiko races Teddie down the slopes, with Teddie saying that if he wins, then she has to go on a date with him. Yukiko says he won't win and speeds up. Teddie also tries to speed up but goes flying after narrowly avoiding hitting Rise, then runs into Yosuke, and the two collide with the side of a rest house. Yukiko begins hysterically laughing after witnessing this. The group tells scary stories at night, and Yukiko is interested in hearing them. When Teddie turns off the lights and scares the group, Yukiko remains seated on the couch and anxiously awaits the protagonist to continue his story. On the 12th, Yukiko races Teddie down the slopes again before heading home.
Yukiko meets the protagonist, Chie, and Yosuke at the school gates on February 15th. She comments on how spring is coming, and when it does, the protagonist will be leaving. In the montage after, Yukiko is seen going to the mountains with the Investigation Team and Nanako, eating hotpot with everyone at the Dojima house on Hinamatsuri, receiving chocolates from the protagonist on White Day, and taking a group photo near Mt. Yasogami.
Priestess Social Link
If the protagonist is dating Yukiko, she invites him to Tatsuhime Shrine on January 1st for Hatsumode. She comes in a red and black kimono with her hair in a ponytail. Since she often wears a kimono while working at the inn, she figures that her wearing one isn't all that special for the protagonist. On her way to the shrine, many customers and business partners of the inn saw her in a kimono and assumed she was working, as she had yet to tell anyone about her dating the protagonist. They pray at the shrine and then draw fortunes together. If the protagonist suggests going to the Amagi Inn, Yukiko apologizes that they wouldn't be able to because of how busy the inn is on New Year's Day. If he suggests the Dojima house, Yukiko thinks out loud about messing up her kimono if they go together. She realizes how dirty that sounds, tries to clarify that she meant it would get messy if she played with Nanako, and gets mad at the protagonist for laughing at her. They ditch the idea of going to either house and instead start looking for a cafe.
On January 2nd, the protagonist goes around town giving his friends New Year's greetings. If he has completed Yukiko's Priestess Social Link, he finds her outside Yomenaido Bookstore in the shopping area. She tells him Happy New Year and mentions that Yosuke is planning something for winter break.
Starting January 11th, Yukiko approaches the protagonist during lunch and asks if she can talk to him privately. Yukiko tried to confess to the staff at the inn that she originally planned to leave Inaba and not inherit the inn. To her surprise, they told her they had known that. She feels fortunate to have such kind people as the inn staff, Chie, and the protagonist. She wants to grow into someone who can support everyone in her life just as they support her. As a sign of how much she has grown over the past year, Yukiko's Persona transforms into Sumeo-Okami.
If the protagonist is dating Yukiko, he can spend Valentine's Day with her. Together, they go to Shichiri Beach, where she gives him a large pink box of chocolates made by her and the other staff at the Amagi Inn. They sit on the stairs and share the chocolates. Yukiko is happy with how they turned out, but she thinks squid ink would have been great since it has the same color as chocolate. While making the chocolates, she daydreamed about the two of them being together in the future. She pictured herself as the manager of the Amagi Inn with the protagonist at her side, and together, they welcomed guests to the inn.
However, if the protagonist is dating multiple girls and wants to spend the day with someone else, he must turn down Yukiko in the hallway at school. She presents him with a large gift box and asks what he is doing after school. When the protagonist does not ask her out, Yukiko gets upset and wonders if she really is his girlfriend. She quickly apologizes for jumping to conclusions, calls herself crazy, and chalks up her suspicion due to her lacking self-confidence.
Aeon Social Link
During rank 3 of the Aeon Social Link, the protagonist brings Marie to Okina. There, they run into Chie and Yukiko. Marie quickly nicknames Yukiko red or black based on what color she is wearing. Chie and Yukiko become conscious of what color clothing they wear and try to pick out new clothes at Croco Fur, but they keep picking green and red items. Yukiko teaches Marie about friendship and how having friends allows you to do something with others that you cannot do just by yourself. During rank 5, Chie and Yukiko run into the others at Junes. Kanji misspeaks and says "sub-buttle" instead of "subtle". Yukiko starts laughing hysterically at the idea of an "un-subtle sub-buttle", and Marie also joins in laughing. During rank 7, Yukiko bought some things for the inn and had Teddie carry them for her. The two see the protagonist and Marie at Daidara Metalworks and learn they are there to ask about Marie's comb. Marie suddenly begins clutching her head, and Yukiko and Teddie run off to get her some medicine.

If the protagonist completed Marie's Aeon Social Link and asked Margaret to help find her, then the events of February 12th continue further.
The protagonist invites Yukiko to go skiing with him. She seemingly cannot ski slowly and enjoys racing downhill at full speed. She tells him she used to hate her name since it means "snow child" and gives off the image of something calm that melts away, but she doesn't hate it anymore; snow is why they can spend time skiing, after all. The two try to find their way back to the lodge and get stuck in a snowstorm. They get lost, start to get cold, and take shelter together in a shack. They start a fire in the hearth and sit close to keep warm. Strangely enough, Yukiko hears the TV in the shack turn on. She and the protagonist go to investigate it, and the rest of the Investigation Team suddenly bursts in. Everyone except Kanji thinks they caught the two in the middle of something romantic. Yukiko tries to explain that they got lost, came to the shack, and heard the TV turn on, but Yosuke and Rise are in disbelief. Chie doesn't think Yukiko would lie about that, and when she looks at the TV herself, Margaret pulls her and the rest of the group through it into the Hollow Forest. There, Margaret introduces herself and explains why Marie has come here: Once the forest achieves its final form, then Marie will be erased from their memories. The idea of Marie erasing her own existence does not sit well with Yukiko, especially after Chie compares it to Marie killing herself.
The group agrees to help Marie and returns to the Hollow Forest on February 13th. When they encounter Marie on the dungeon floors, Yukiko tells her they have come to bring her back home. Marie gets upset after hearing this, as she believes she has no "home". At the dungeon's end, another voice begins talking through Marie, and Yukiko recognizes that it is someone other than Marie. The Investigation Team destroys the fog within Marie and saves her. After bringing her back to the real world, Yosuke playfully throws a snowball at Marie and suggests they have a snowball fight. Marie uses her control of the weather to produce multiple snowballs and declares the snowball fight will be girls vs boys. Her and the other girls all start pelting Yosuke with snowballs, and Yukiko's laughter can be heard as Yosuke yells. Later in the evening, the group visits a hot spring with Marie, and Yukiko is less than thrilled when Teddie and Yosuke fall into the girls' bath.
Epilogue
- This section contains spoilers. (Skip Section)
If the protagonist completes the Aeon Social Link and later discovers Izanami's involvement, the epilogue shows him returning to Inaba during summer. Yukiko and the others surprise the protagonist and greet him at Junes. By this time, she has fully accepted that she will become the next manager of the Amagi Inn[16] and started wearing her hair in a bun, similar to the women who work at traditional inns. Yukiko also has a new summer outfit with a white dress and a light blue top. Previously, Yukiko noticed a man in town giving speeches, and she learns from Dojima that it was Namatame, who is now running for mayor. Together, the Investigation Team and Nanako welcome the protagonist back to Inaba. However, Kanji messes up and says the wrong thing, and Yukiko begins laughing at him.
Persona 3 Portable
Yukiko appears exclusively in the female protagonist's route when her sports club visits Yasogami High School for joint sports practice. After practice on August 1st, Yukiko appears and greets the visitors from Gekkoukan. She explains that the inn belongs to her family and she is helping out. Yuko Nishiwaki asks if Yukiko will inherit the family inn, and Yukiko replies that she is unsure about that. Rio Iwasaki tells Yuko to quit being nosy. One of the inn's waitresses, Kasai, appears to get the car keys from Yukiko so she can go grocery shopping. Yukiko offers to go instead, but Kasai refuses due to Yukiko mixing up ingredients.[17] Instead, Kasai tells her that the groceries would be too heavy for her. On August 2nd, Kazushi Miyamoto tells Yukiko that the girls saw faces in the walls. Yukiko says those are normal at older inns. Yuko is frightened and does not think Yukiko is joking. Yukiko reassures her that she is kidding and bids the guests goodbye. Once she leaves, Yuko wonders if she is a ghost.

Mercury, Nine the Phantom, and Jubei, as well as Carmine and Gordeau from the Under Night In-Birth series, Weiss Schnee from RWBY, and Yumi from the Senran Kagura series.
Kotodaman
Yukiko appeared as a unit in the Persona collab for the mobile game Kotodaman during the collab's original run in 2020, and once again during the rerun in 2024. She can be obtained by rolling in the Persona gacha. As a game unit, Yukiko is a 5★ fire-attribute unit who can be used to form words using the syllables that make up her initials: ゆ・ゅ and あ・ぁ. She can be evolved into a 6★ unit. Her 3+ and 4+ syllable skills are named Maragi and Maragidyne, two skills that her Persona learns during Persona 4. Maragidyne does fire damage when ゆ・ゅ is played and heals when あ・ぁ is played.[19]
Trivia
- Yukiko was originally conceived as a party member and one of the protagonist's friend group. While developing the plot, Atlus wanted to add in a twist culprit between the November and March culprits. At first, Soejima and Hashino considered Yukiko for this role, but only as a half-joke based on Japanese detective story tropes, and the idea was never seriously written.[20]
- In Yukiko's own high school social network profile displayed in Persona Club P4, she writes that her favorite food is Japanese food, she loves dogs, she does not particularly dislike anything but does not take well to dirty talk, and her special skills are kimono dressing and arranging food dishes / place settings. The hobby pages she has joined include "Japanese clothing lovers", "The Go Home Club", "Let's visit the dam", and "Fans of Showa era music". Her greeting is, "Hello! Chie invited me here". Her inbox has a message from Yosuke asking her to let him come back and bathe in the hot springs at the Amagi Inn again.[21] Her Persona 4 Arena Ultimax remastered profile also reiterates that she is awful at cooking.[22]
- The developer Q&A about Yukiko in Persona Club P4 reveals some additional background information:[17]
- Yukiko does not like to stand out, but she wears the color red because Chie told her it looks good on her.
- Yukiko is not allowed to go on errands for the Amagi Inn because there have been incidents in the past where she bought hard bread flour instead of soft pastry flour, and got broccoli instead of cauliflower because it looks healthier.
- During Yukiko's rank 10 romance route, the protagonist can invite her to sit on the futon. Originally, this dialogue would have resulted in something more adventurous, but it was toned down after other staff found it too perverted.
- On April 30th, Yukiko is upset about the protagonist eating the fried tofu in her kitsune udon. This is not referring to blocks or chunks of fried tofu, but rather abura-age—very thinly sliced fried tofu pouches.
- Yukiko's cell phone in Persona 4 The Animation is a red Francfranc N-05B.[23]
- Some of Yukiko's alternate color palettes in Persona 4 Arena Ultimax are meant to be references to other characters in the Persona series and from other Arc System Works properties.
