According to folklore, the Tarasque was a large creature who lived near Tarascon in Provence, France.

Devil Summoner: Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army
A Tarrasque known as the Large Tarrasque appears as a boss in the Daidouji Basement. Later, Raidou will enter into a contract with the Large Tarrasque, who will allow the summoner to ride on him in order to traverse water-based pathways throughout the Capital by calling upon him with the Flute of Rhone. Raidou can also visit the Tarrasque and offer it various kinds of alcohol for rewards.
