Design

In her Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II design, Bodyconian is a woman with long blonde hair and a tattoo of a cartoon heart on her left breast. She is wearing a red and white-striped corset teddy with garter belts and fishnet stockings. She has red high heels and is wearing a red band around her right arm, and two thick golden bracelets on her left. Bodyconian's sprite was recolored for Elf and Rusalka.

In her Shin Megami Tensei artwork she has blonde hair, green eyes, and is wearing a short sleeveless red bodycon dress with a single pink stripe. Her red high-heeled boots have black straps and there's a decorative chain on the left one. She is wearing two golden bracelets on her right wrist, a golden upper-arm bracelet on the left, as well as a golden ring on her left hand.
In her sprite she instead has black hair, her dress is fully red with a white belt, and she is wearing white bracelets on both her wrists.

Wearing a form-fitting one-piece dress, with her hair long and straight, she is the embodiment of fashion from Japan's economic bubble years in the late 80's and early 90's. This style was particularly common in Tokyo where girls could often be found waving "Juliana Fans" as they danced the nights away. This "bodycon" culture burst along with the bubble and lives on now only in this zombified form.

Trivia

  • According to Kazuma Kaneko, Bodyconian was inspired by his experience in the disco scene, where the women dancing wildly reminded him of Zombies.[1]

Nomenclature

Bodyconian comes from ボディコン bodikon, short for "body-conscious", a Japanese term for tight-fitting dresses like the one the Bodyconian wears. This style of dress was popular in the 1980s and 1990s and spawned a fashion subculture of the same name.
