Profile

Origin

Inferno is the Italian word for Hell, the afterlife of suffering in Abrahamic religions, often in reference to the first part of Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy, Inferno. More modern uses of the word refer to a large, uncontrollable fire.

In Shin Megami Tensei II, the Inferno are the lingering souls of civilians who were killed in an ICBM explosion during the Great Cataclysm.^{[citation needed]}

Design

All depictions of the Inferno portray them as a silhouetted humanoid figure, devoid of many distinguishable features, completely engulfed in flames.
