Persona 5 Royal is an enhanced edition of the 2016 role-playing game Persona 5, the sixth entry in the Persona series. It was developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation 4 on October 31, 2019 in Japan, and subsequently worldwide in most other regions on March 31, 2020. In South Korea, the game released a month earlier on February 20, 2020. On October 21, 2022, Persona 5 Royal was re-released worldwide for the PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam.

Persona 5 Royal features a number of quality of life improvements and new content additions, most notably the introduction of Kasumi Yoshizawa and Takuto Maruki as new characters as well as a new post-ending story scenario.

The game release for PS4 had multiple DLC bundles made for purchase. Previous DLC bundles for Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal were included with the game purchase for the 2022 re-releases on other platforms. DLC for Persona 5 Royal included the following bundles:[1]

  • Kasumi Costume Bundle: Over seven costumes for Kasumi, many themed from other Atlus games.
  • Battle Bundle: Challenges to fight for rewards, including the Persona 3 protagonist, Persona 4 protagonist, and Caroline & Justine, plus multiple item sets.
  • Persona Bundle: Late-game personas from several previous protagonists as well as a new Persona designed specifically for Royal.
  • Persona 5 Royal DLC Pack: Combined Kasumi Costume, Battle, and Persona bundles.
  • Persona 5 Royal Legacy Bundle: All of the original Persona 5 Game DLC.

2022 Re-release

As apart of Persona's 25th Anniversary, Persona 5 Royal was remastered for modern consoles. On October 20th, 2022 worldwide, Persona 5 Royal was released on Windows for Steam and the Microsoft Store, and consoles for the Nintendo Switch, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Steam, Microsoft Store, and Xbox versions of the re-releases contained all downloadable content from both previous releases. The Steam and Microsoft Store versions also included other various improvements such as a higher frame rate cap and keyboard and mouse support.
