Origin
In Newar folklore, Pulukisi is the elephant mount of the god Indra. Part of the Indra Jātrā festival features a reenactment of an incident where Indra was captured by the people of Kathmandu and Pulukisi went to go look for its master.[1] An alternative transcription of Pulukisi's name is Pulukishi.
