Synopsis
In 2009, Makoto Yuki, a high school student who was orphaned 10 years ago transfers to Gekkoukan High School in Tatsumi Port Island. A few days after his arrival at Iwatodai Dormitory, the dormitory is attacked by Shadows during an abnormal period of time known as the Dark Hour just after midnight. During this attack, Makoto awakens his persona, Orpheus. He is subsequently recruited by fellow dormmates to the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad, or SEES for short. SEES is a secretive organization of persona users who aim to end the Dark Hour phenomenon, and all of the students at Iwatodai Dormitory are part of this organization. Makoto is then revealed to possess the power of the Wild Card which allows him to utilize more than one persona. Due to his ability to effectively fight shadows, his induction becomes an opportunity for SEES to investigate Tartarus, the massive tower which materialises on the site of Gekkoukan High School during the Dark Hour. In addition to Tartarus, SEES is also tasked with eliminating the unusually powerful shadows known as the Arcana Shadows which materialize every full moon to terrorize the city. Makoto, alongside the rest of SEES, begins a journey to fight the shadows, climb Tartarus in search of answers, and live his life as a student at Gekkoukan High while strengthening his bonds with various people he meets along the way.
