Parvati is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Parvati is a Hindu goddess, she is the daughter of Himavat (personification of the Himalayan mountains) and she is the consort of Shiva. In addition, she is the mother to the gods Ganesha and Kartikeya. The goddesses Kali and Durga are manifestations of Parvati, both being created to slay the demon Mahishasura[1]. In her past life as a human, Parvati was born as Sati, who also married Shiva. However, Sati's father, Daksha, disapproved of the marriage and upon insulting Shiva during a sacred ritual Sati immolated herself to be reborn[2]. As Parvati, she took on many years of meditation and renounced her status as a princess to gain Shiva's love, though he remained distant due to the loss of Sati.
