Watcher is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Watcher, at least for its appearance in Shin Megami Tensei, is an original creation of a being that is an informant for God, though its profile by Kazunari Suzuki seems to indicate it is inspired by a character known as the Eye from Kaoru Kurimoto's Makai Suikoden novel series, along with a sketch by Odilon Redon (presumably "The Eye, Like a Strange Balloon, Mounts Toward Infinity").[1]

In the Devil Children series, Watcher appears to represent the angelic Watchers[a] from Enochian literature, given its close resemblance to Grigori (the Slavic name of the Watchers). In the Book of Enoch, the Watchers are fallen angels who are said to have given forbidden knowledge to mankind, and they also had sexual unions with human women, resulting in the birth of the Nephilim.
