Laevateinn is a recurring weapon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Hævateinn, altered to Lævateinn by editors such as Sophus Bugge,[a] is a weapon of Loki mentioned in the poem Fjölsvinnsmál of the Poetic Edda. This weapon was sometimes erroneously depicted in outdated scholarship (e.g. by Henrik Schück) as being a fiery sword of Surtr.

Notes

  1. ↑ Hæva- was believed by Bugge to be a scribal error of Læva-, which would be the genitive form of the first element of Lægjarn, an epithet of Loki.
