Hinokagutsuchi, also spelled as Hi-no-Kagutsuchi or simply Kagutsuchi, is a recurring sword in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Hinokagutsuchi is a fire sword from the novels. Despite this, it emits a lightning effect in either Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei (OVA) or the Playstation version of Shin Megami Tensei.

On Yumi and Reiko's route, the Hinokagutsuchi can be found in the World of Envy. When entering the room it is in, the sword itself speaks to the Protagonist and says if they can pull it out of the pedestal, its power will be theirs. If the Protagonist either has no Guardian, or if their Guardian is one of the three strongest Guardians they can get, they will be able to pull out the Hinokagutsuchi and equip it. If they do not have either of these requirements fulfilled, they will be unable to obtain the Hinokagutsuchi.
