Golem is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
The Golem[a] is an automaton in Jewish mysticism. They are activated by writing emet,[b] meaning truth, on the forehead, but by removing the א aleph, it makes met,[c] meaning dead; doing this causes them to crumble and turn to dust. The dust or dirt with which Adam was created by YHWH during Genesis would be put together, and prior to him becoming 100% human, he was, in Talmudic views, a golem.[1]
A 1580 folk tale tells of the Golem of Prague. At the time, Jews of Prague were being attacked by thugs over blood libel conspiracies. The Maharal, Rabbi Judah Loew, went to the river's edge to construct a Golem out of clay to protect the people, writing emet on its forehead and leading it to his home. From there, the Golem would protect the Jews from the conspirator's attacks, ensuring they would never be harmed. One night, the Golem spotted some of the thugs dragging a Christian child to a courtyard, aiming to kill it and frame Jews for the act; the Golem tied them up and brought them to King Rudolph II's palace, where they confessed to using the child's blood for matzah to frame the Jews. Rudolph II then made it law that Jews were not to be harmed, and after months of quiet, Rabbi Loew brought the Golem to the riverbed, removed the aleph, and allowed it to return to the earth from which it came. The reputation of the Golem, along with the new law, proved sufficient to ensure Jews were never harmed again in Prague.[2]
In the modern day, golem is used as an insult, meaning to be dumb, stupid, or otherwise idle, rooted in Sanhedrin 65b:17's description of a man who could speak but not reply.[3]
Design
In its Devil Children series design, Golem appears as a robot with a green monochrome display on its chest reading "Emeth", in reference to the Hebrew word written to bring a golem to life.

Rabbi Yoḥanan bar Ḥanina says: Daytime is twelve hours long, and the day Adam the first man was created was divided as follows: In the first hour of the day, his dust was gathered. In the second, an undefined figure was fashioned. In the third, his limbs were extended. In the fourth, a soul was cast into him. In the fifth, he stood on his legs. In the sixth, he called the creatures by the names he gave them. In the seventh, Eve was paired with him. In the eighth, they arose to the bed two, and descended four, i.e., Cain and Abel were immediately born. In the ninth, he was commanded not to eat of the Tree of Knowledge. In the tenth, he sinned. In the eleventh, he was judged. In the twelfth, he was expelled and left the Garden of Eden, as it is stated: “But man abides not in honor; he is like the beasts that perish” (Psalms 49:13). Adam did not abide, i.e., sleep, in a place of honor for even one night.
