Gamigin is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Profile

Origin

Gamigin is a spirit in European demonology first attested as Gamygyn, the 47th spirit (labeled 46th) in Johann Weyer's Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, which draws from earlier sources. Gamygyn is said to be a great marquess who takes the form of a small horse, but when he assumes the form of a man he speaks in a hoarse voice regarding all the liberal arts. He causes souls in purgatory to appear before the exorcist and answer questions. He remains with the exorcist until his vow is fulfilled, and he has 30 legions under his command.[1]

In the Ars Goetia section of The Lesser Key of Solomon, which is heavily based on the Pseudomonarchia Daemonum, Gamigin is said to be the 4th spirit summoned by King Solomon of Israel. The Lesser Key adds he may also appear in the form of an ass and not just a horse.[2]

Design

In his Shin Megami Tensei design, Gamigin appears as a horse with dark coat and a white mane, tail, and feathering.

Origin: Israel
One of the 72 demons of the Goetia. He is a Great Marquis of Hell who rules over thirty legions of demons. He appears as a small horse or donkey. If he takes human form, he will speak on the liberal sciences in a rough voice. He can answer every question and will stay until all work assigned to him is completed. He especially excels in spiritualism.
