出身地：エジプト 鳥、あるいは人間の頭を持った鳥の姿で表される、死んだ人間の魂。 人間に死が近づくと、どこからともなくバーが現れ、死の決まった瞬間にその霊魂を引き受け、天に舞い上がる。この点では、バーを全く霊魂と同一視するのはおかしいかもしれない。 バーは霊魂であるものの、かつての自分の肉体と無関係ではない。安息の場としてその肉体は必要であり続ける。このためエジプトでは、死者はミイラ化されたのである。 Translation: Place of origin: Egypt A dead human soul, symbolized as a bird or a bird with a human's head. When a human approaches death, a Ba appears out of nowhere, takes their soul at the very moment of death, and flies into heaven. On this point, it may seem strange to regard the Ba as the same as the soul. Although the Ba is the soul, it is not unrelated to its former body, and continues to need the body as a place of rest. This is why the dead in Egypt were mummified.
