Origin

Aradvi Sura Anahita, later known as simply Anahita, is an ancient Iranian goddess associated with the waters. Like several other Iranian deities, she would be incorporated into Zoroastrianism as a yazata.

Herman Lommel proposed a link between Anahita and the Indic deity Sarasvati.
