* Neutral: the attack will function as normal.
* Resist: the attack will deal less damage than normal.
* Null: the attack will deal no damage.
* Repel: the attack will be reflected back to the attacker, dealing damage to them instead. If the attacker also repels the Attribute, the attack is nullified.
* Drain: the attack will heal the defender for the amount of damage it would have dealt.
Beyond damage, the attacker may receive certain benefits or detriments upon hitting specific Resistances, such as a Half Turn under the Press Turn System for striking a weakness.
Primarily in older games, Resistances are not unique and are instead derived from a shared pool referred to as "Resistance Types". In more recent titles, each set of Resistances is unique, being disconnected from other characteristics such as Race or Skill Affinities, but they are still correlated.

Resistance, also known as Affinity, describes how a given unit interacts when attacked by a given Attribute.
Overview
Each character or demon has a set of Resistances which describe how effective an attack of a given Attribute will be on them. These range from taking additional damage from that Attribute to taking no damage at all or even healing from it. Resistances also have priorities: in the event where a demon has, for instance, multiple Passive skills that modify their innate Resistances, only the one that provides the highest priority Resistance is applied.
While the specific terminology or possible types vary between games, the most common Resistance modifiers are as follows, in increasing order of priority:
- Weak: the attack will deal more damage.
- Neutral: the attack will function as normal.
- Resist: the attack will deal less damage than normal.
- Null: the attack will deal no damage.
- Repel: the attack will be reflected back to the attacker, dealing damage to them instead. If the attacker also repels the Attribute, the attack is nullified.
- Drain: the attack will heal the defender for the amount of damage it would have dealt.
