Hermes Trismegistus (lit. "Hermes the thrice-greatest") is a legendary figure that originated in the Hellenistic era who is said to have been a wise teacher. Texts attributed to him formed the basis for the Hermetic school of thought.
Hermes Trismegistus originated from a syncretization between the Greek god Hermes and the Egyptian god Thoth, though he came to be considered distinct from them.[1]
