Shadow Teddie is a character in Persona series. It is the Shadow version of Teddie.

Profile

Shadow Teddie is the Shadow of Teddie which was born from his own repressed thoughts after hearing Rise Kujikawa say that there is no "one true self". At first, it appears as a larger version of Teddie with yellow eyes named Other Teddie. After Teddie tells it to shut up, it turns into Shadow Teddie, an even larger form with black cracks on its face that show nothing on the inside. The cracks do not show his face falling off, but rather indicate that he is being sucked inward by an empty void until nothing is left.

After hearing Rise say that there is no "one true self" in Marukyu Striptease, Teddie repeats what she says, and then Rise detects some sort of interference. A combination of Teddie's own repressed thoughts and meddling from an unknown being give birth to a being resembling Teddie named Other Teddie. Other Teddie tells the Investigation Team that the fog makes it impossible to obtain the truth, and even if they look for it, how will they be able to identify it? Thus, it is better to live in ignorance. Other Teddie then spells it out for Teddie: Teddie is empty, part of him has known this from the start, but he remains in denial and has been trying to create another version of himself. Before the other version of Teddie can reveal the truth about what Teddie really is, Teddie tells it to shut up and tries headbutting into it. Other Teddie criticizes the rest of the Investigation Team for pursuing the truth and attacks them, saying it will teach them one truth: that they will all die here without ever reaching the truth. After this, it transforms into the larger Shadow Teddie.

Once Shadow Teddie has been defeated, Teddie admits to his Shadow that he does not understand who he is, but he knows that he is alive and he exists. Thanks to the protagonist and the others, Teddie comes to understand that he does not have to figure this out on his own. As the Investigation Team continues to search the TV World, Yukiko is sure they will discover something about Teddie too. After this, Shadow Teddie transforms into Kintoki-Douji and becomes a Persona that Teddie can use.

In December, Teddie reveals to the Investigation Team that he is a Shadow, and this is likely what Shadow Teddie was about to say before Teddie told it to shut up. Naoto Shirogane reasons that despite Teddie being a Shadow, he has developed an ego, become similar to humans, and thus can use a Persona. He went through the same steps as the rest of them, but in a different order. Furthermore, Yosuke says that the group assumed he must be a Shadow, but they do not think of him as being like the other Shadows who attacked them since, from the start, Teddie wanted to find the truth.
