Rahab is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Rahab[a] is mentioned as a sea monster that, along with its helpers, was defeated and hewn into pieces by an angry YHWH in Job 26[1] of the Old Testament; it is further mentioned in Isaiah 51[2] and Psalms. While largely ignored by Christian writers, the parable is elaborated on in Jewish texts. In the Talmud, Rahab is seen as an angelic minister of the sea, and was said to have rebelled against YHWH, refusing to swallow the primordial waters to make room for land during the creation of the world; this is the reason for its severe punishment.[3] Building on its name meaning "arrogance", Steinsaltz states that Rahab was a sort of whale or sea serpent that represented rebellion against YHWH.[4]
Rahab's name may be related to Labbu (also possibly read Rebbu), a monster mentioned in an Akkadian text.[5]

A monster of the sea appearing in the Old Testament. His name means "arrogant" and "violent." He is known as a symbol of chaos, existing even before our world's creation. However, he was split in two for defying God, with half of him becoming the sky and the other half the sea. He now dwells in the Red Sea, and is known as the sea's primordial ruler. He is often depicted as an enemy of Jewish people, and sometimes as the guardian angel of Egypt. He is also found in Babylonian mythology, where he is the first monster born from the Abzu and Tiamat.

And Rav Yehuda says that Rav says: At the time when the Holy One, Blessed be He, sought to create the world, He said to the minister of the sea: Open your mouth and swallow all the waters of the world, so that there will be room for land. The minister of the sea said before Him: Master of the Universe, it is enough that I will stay within my own waters. God immediately struck him and killed him; as it is stated: “He stirs up the sea with His power, and by His understanding He smites through Rahab” (Job 26:12). Rabbi Yitzḥak said: Conclude from here that the name of the minister of the sea is Rahab, and were it not for waters of the sea that cover him, no creature could withstand his smell, as his corpse emits a terrible stench. As it is stated: “They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain; for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea” (Isaiah 11:9). Do not read this phrase as “cover the sea”; rather read it as: Cover the minister of the sea, i.e., the term sea is referring to the minister of the sea, not to the sea itself..
