This is a complete summary of Devil Survivor 2’s Septentrione Arc and its multiple endings. Be warned that spoilers are detailed below.

1st Day: Sunday's Melancholy

Opening

The Protagonist, among other high school students, is shown having just finished a college practice exam at an exam venue in Tokyo. Daichi Shijima, his friend and classmate, appears to chat about the exam and shares a rumor about a website called Nicaea that can allegedly show users prophetic videos of their friends dying. The protagonist registers for Nicaea and is introduced to either a male or female Tico.

Crisis at Shibuya Station

To celebrate finishing the day's mock exams, Daichi and the protagonist head to Shibuya Station to do some shopping. Afterwards, they run into Io Nitta, who attends the same school as them, at the station platform. All three then receive a video from Nicaea depicting them dying in a horrific train accident at the platform they are currently standing at. Before they can react further, the incoming train derails and crashes into the station platform, with events transpiring exactly as Nicaea's video foretold.

Moments before a train car crashes down on the trio, the world goes black. The protagonist's phone rings, an Obariyon appears, and Tico informs him that he is about to die. Should he wish to live, Tico notes he will need to use a Demon Summoning Program. The protagonist is given the choice to give up or to continue living, with the former resulting in an instant game over.

After Nicaea registers the protagonist's will to live, he, Daichi, and Io find themselves face-to-face with three demons that have been summoned by their phones. The trio defeat the demons, allowing them to register summoning contracts with Nicaea and become demon tamers.

The group emerges from the subway to find Shibuya's Scramble Crossing in ruins. A TV bulletin reports the accident as a massive earthquake before the feed cuts, with cell and radio service cut off soon after. As they check their phones, Daichi discovers a Demon Summoning Program has been somehow installed on them and cannot be deleted. While discussing the demons in the subway and sudden catastrophe, a tall woman in a black uniform questions them before demanding their phones. The trio is scared off and leaves the scene.

Io expresses concern for her family in Ariake, whom she cannot contact due to the suspension of cell service. While investigating the disaster, Io notes irregularities in their situation, such as the lack of news helicopters and how an earthquake has disrupted transportation, cell, electric, and radio services all at once. They eventually learn that all transportation has been halted, so Daichi and the protagonist agree to walk Io home.

Saving Daichi

After the group reaches Roppongi, Dubhe suddenly falls from the sky and appears before them. It slowly swells up and then explodes, killing a group of people nearby. The trio run away in a panic. In the chaos, Daichi is split off from Io and the protagonist, who receive a death video of an ice demon killing him at Sensouji. Io realizes that victims do not receive their own death videos, meaning Daichi is unaware of the danger he is in. They rush to save their friend.

At Sensouji, Io and the protagonist save Daichi with help from Makoto Sako, the tall woman they met at Shibuya Station before. After the battle, Makoto repairs the seal on Bai Suzhen, the task she was initially dispatched to Sensouji for. Makoto takes an interest in the team's demon summoning programs, then explains that traditional weapons do not work against Dubhe, which is different from demons somehow. Additionally, all aircraft have been immediately shot down, severely limiting efforts to gather intel and address the disaster. She invites them to Nagata-cho to treat a sprained ankle Io incurred during the fight to save Daichi, and the trio oblige.

Introduction to JP's

At Nagata-cho, Makoto brings them to a confidential part of the Diet Building, revealed to be part of an organization called JP's. They run into Yamato Hotsuin, Makoto's superior and chief of JP's, to whom Makoto explains the trio's experience with Nicaea and its Demon Summoning Program. Yamato coldly dismisses them, warning that the facility is off-limits to civilians and they should not linger for long. Makoto treats Io's sprain, and as thanks for her kindness, Io explains what little they know about the summoning app's connection to Nicaea. After Makoto leaves, Daichi and the protagonist later overhear her and Yamato discussing their arrest while looking for a bathroom. They hurry back to Io and the three sneak out of JP's before they risk being incarcerated.

Meeting Joe

As they make their way to Ariake, the trio runs into Yuzuru Akie, who goes by the name "Joe," at Hibiya Park. Joe drags Daichi away, causing Io and the protagonist to give chase. Joe explains he was trying to save Daichi from demons that came out of his phone and have been chasing him since, and the team realizes he has yet to form a contract. As the group talks, Joe's contract demon finally catches up with him, bringing with it a horde of small demons. Io, Daichi, and the protagonist agree to help Joe form his contract given they are also effectively cornered by the sudden horde, and successfully defeat the demons. Joe decides to help the group find a way to Ariake and suggests they head towards the Rainbow Bridge.

Vs Dubhe

At around 20:00, the team makes it to the SL Plaza in Shinbashi. Daichi finds an unlocked, parked truck, which he proposes to drive the group to Ariake in. But before the team can get in, Dubhe appears, landing on the truck. Daichi floors it, causing Dubhe to fall off and corner Io, Joe, and the protagonist in a narrow alleyway. Sensing victory is nearly impossible, the team attempts to flee. Partway through their escape attempt, Dubhe begins to swell, heralding a massive explosion. Before Dubhe can explode, Daichi reappears on the train tracks above and rams into it with his truck, crippling Dubhe and allowing the rest of the team to defeat it.

After defeating Dubhe, Yamato appears with Makoto and a team of JP's agents. Amused that civilians have beaten Dubhe before he could arrive on the scene, Yamato congratulates the group on their victory before quickly noting Daichi's absence. Daichi, shouting for help, is then shown hanging from rubble overhead, having jumped out of the truck before it hit Dubhe. Yamato commends the group for their efforts, and JP's offers them food and shelter for the night, as well as assistance in helping the team contact their families tomorrow morning.

At a bedroom provided by the JP's Tokyo branch, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico before going to sleep.

2nd Day: Monday's Turmoil

Destroyed Homes and App Abusers

At 7:00, Makoto informs the protagonist that, though Daichi and Io are being escorted to their homes, it is unlikely their homes are still standing due to the disaster. She also shares that despite the government's best efforts, they have no intel on Nicaea. Speaking with Daichi will reinforce Makoto's presumption about their homes: the devastation en route to his and the protagonist's neighborhood was so severe that Daichi could not make it to where their homes once stood.

At Senkakuji in Shinagawa, the protagonist, Io, Daichi, and Joe find Makoto confronting a group of civilians who seem to be abusing Nicaea's summoning app for nefarious ends. They pitch in to help her apprehend the rogue demon tamers, confiscating and destroying their phones in the process. After the battle, Makoto thanks them for their assistance. After she leaves, Daichi begins to lament how powerless he feels in the current situation, though Joe is able to clear the air and tells them Yamato wants to meet him.

The protagonist receives a call from Yamato, who informs him that the group's phones have been hooked up to the JP's cell network and that he will await them at the Diet Building. Thanks to JP's, though the group cannot contact individuals not connected to the JP's network, such as friends or family, they can at least contact and call each other.

To Osaka

At the command room, Yamato invites the group to accompany him to Osaka to see the scale of the devastation for themselves. He proposes that they proactively gather intel about their situation rather than idly hoping the disaster will somehow resolve itself, and explains he has extended this offer to the four of them specifically as thanks for defeating Dubhe. The group decide to accept Yamato's offer in hopes of finding answers about the disaster and agree to meet him at Shinbashi.

At Cine City Plaza in Shinjuku, Io and the protagonist run into a woman who warns them about a dead body ahead and how "monsters" have been killing people. Io and the protagonist piece together that the rampant demons are likely a result of many failed summoning contracts.

Later, at Shinbashi, the team watches Yamato summon Cerberus to annihilate a group of demons. He and Makoto reveal a hidden JP's-exclusive platform entrance beneath the model train on display in the plaza, whose trains are still in operation despite the disaster. Makoto stays behind in Tokyo, bidding the group farewell as their train departs for Osaka.

At Osaka, Yamato tells the group to investigate Osaka to their hearts' content. A JP's agent introduces them to Keita Wakui, a civilian tamer working with the JP's Osaka branch, and Yamato heads to a meeting, leaving them with Keita. Keita curtly tells the group to sightsee on their own, meet him at Bickman at 14:30, and to watch out for demons. He then ditches the group, leaving Daichi, Io, Joe, and the protagonist to explore on their own.

Saving Keita

Almost immediately after Keita leaves, the group receives his death video from Nicaea, depicting him falling down a massive set of stairs to his death. Though they do not know when the death video will happen, they decide to first search for where the stairs prominently shown in his video are.

The following are required events needed to progress the story, though taking too long to execute them will cause the group to be too late to save Keita:

[Battle] Demon-Hacked: While searching for the stairs in Keita's death video, the group stumbles upon the Festival Gate. They find it infested with demons, and discover a woman in a cheongsam summoning demons via a massive computer rig in a trance-like state. After they knock her out, a demon named Botis appears and whisks her away. Soon after, a group of JP's agents appears and informs them that the JP's servers were hacked from the Festival Gate a moment ago. The group identifies the mysterious woman as the only culprit. Io notes the woman seemed to be controlled by a demon, and the JP's agents agree to investigate before immediately being called away to defend against a reported demon attack elsewhere. The team mull over how widespread the demon attacks appear to be and continue to try and find a lead on Keita's death video.
Rumors: The team eventually make their way to Osaka Castle Park, where Osaka Castle now lies in ruin. The group realize that whatever disaster that struck Tokyo and Osaka cannot be explained by a simple earthquake due to differences in fault lines that run through the cities. A frenzied man tells the group that the world's end is upon them, and the team decide to continue gathering information on the scale of the devastation.
[Battle] Never Say Die: At Ebisu Bridge in Nanba, the group teams up with Hinako Kujou to defend civilians from a group of demons. After the battle, Hinako asks the team if she can join JP's. After agreeing to introduce her to Yamato and letting her join the team for the time being, Daichi asks if she can identify the stairs in Keita's death video. She recognizes the location as the Bickman entrance to Umeda Station, and the team can now head there.

After completing "Never Say Die," the team will know where the death video takes place. To prevent it, they need to arrive at Bickman from 14:30 to 15:00 for the "Osaka Soul" battle event:

In this scenario, they will be just in time to help Keita fight off a group of demons, saving his life. After quarreling with Keita, he will curtly thank the group for saving his life and agree to bring Hinako to Shinsekai, where JP's headquarters are located.

If the team arrives any later or they take too long to track down Keita, his death video will play out and he will die. The group will express remorse in being unable to prevent his death and will head to Shinsekai to meet up with Yamato.

National Crisis

If Keita is alive, he will introduce Hinako to Yamato. Hinako requests to join JP's. Yamato readily obliges and assigns a JP's agent to bring her up to speed on her duties as a new member of the organization. He then leads the rest of the party to a meeting room, showing them photos of six major cities across Japan—Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Beppu—all of which have been devastated in some way. To make matters worse, these six cities are the only ones JP's has intel on: not even JP's can get into contact with other cities, much less other cities outside of Japan. Yamato cites the disaster as a worldwide phenomenon and an unprecedented crisis for humankind. Daichi struggles to come to terms with this new reality, and the team split off to process what Yamato has shown them.

Vs Merak

The protagonist returns to JP's headquarters in Shinsekai. Yamato inquires about how the protagonist's friends are grappling with the news and commends the protagonist for his mental fortitude in the face of everything that has transpired. At the protagonist's prompting, Yamato explains his position as the current leader of the Hotsuin clan, a group who have led JP's and protected Japan from the shadows for generations. He also divulges his command over the Dragon Stream.

The two's conversation is cut short by an alarm: Merak, an entity similar to Dubhe has been sighted assaulting the Tsuutenkaku. Yamato swiftly orders the team to sortie, placing the protagonist in command to defeat Merak south of the tower while Yamato defends the tower's north from encroaching demons.

At the Tsuutenkaku, the team discovers Merak sending out disc-like missiles and frozen blasts to assault the tower. The group ready for combat and begin the operation to defeat Merak.

After successfully defending the Tsuutenkaku from Merak's missiles and defeating its main body, the team note similarities between Merak and Dubhe before Yamato appears to congratulate them on their performance. He informs them that they are dismissed for the day and that the group's train back to Tokyo will depart at 19:00.

Enemy Inquiry and Back to Tokyo

As the group unwind from the day's events, Hinako overhears the protagonist and Io discussing the names of the strange monsters they have fought. She identifies them as stars in Ursa Major, implying that there are seven entities in total. Io wonders if the monsters are the real culprits behind the disasters, leading Hinako to relay their findings to JP's.

At around 19:00 - 19:30, Daichi, Joe, Io, and the protagonist assemble at the JP's station platform to head back home to Tokyo. They express gratitude for the opportunity to learn more about the disaster. Hinako and Keita, if he is still alive, see them off at the platform. They also inform them that someone is needed in Nagoya to help with a JP's supply run. Though Joe appears to have hesitant ties to Nagoya, Daichi volunteers in his place. The team bid him a safe journey at the JP's Nagoya platform before returning to Tokyo.

Back at Tokyo, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico before going to sleep.

3rd Day: Tuesday's Disquiet

To Nagoya

Makoto bursts into the protagonist's room and informs him that JP's has lost contact with the JP's Nagoya branch, including Daichi, who was in the area. JP's also lacks resources to investigate due to the demon outbreaks across the region. The protagonist freely elects to investigate, leading Makoto to explain she has already been ordered to dispatch him there. She thanks him despite her misgivings about involving civilians in JP's affairs, and the protagonist heads to Nagoya together with Io and Joe.

The group arrives in Nagoya and discovers that the JP's station platform is oddly vacant. Joe notes the JP's cell network is offline, and they wonder about the state of the JP's Nagoya branch.

Meeting Airi

At Nagoya Station's Gold Clock, the team stumbles upon a group of civilians who have seized JP's provisions for themselves. Airi Ban appears on the scene, declares war on the rioters, and the team allies with her to recover the stolen provisions. After the battle, the team properly introduce themselves to Airi.

Airi explains the JP's Nagoya branch has been taken over by a civilian group after their leader Ronaldo Kuriki objected to JP's hoarding food and medicine for themselves. Airi has also lost contact with other Nagoya branch JP's members, including fellow civilian tamer Jungo Torii, whom she had been working with up until the incident. After electing to help Airi, she joins the team. They all decide to first gather more information on the situation.

Searching for Daichi

At Sakae's Centering Park, the team run into Jungo fighting off a group of civilian rioters alone and lend him support. After the battle, the protagonist and Joe introduce themselves. Satisfied, Jungo wanders off to find other people to help and warns the group to be careful. As Airi complains about Jungo's spacey demeanor, the team receives Jungo's death video, depicting civilians killing him before a captive Daichi.

Airi identifies the video's location as some sort of movie theater or stadium, but is unable to glean anything more from it. She suggests asking Fumi Kanno, a tech-savvy member of JP's who wears her uniform's black coat over a cheongsam, for help in tracing the video's location and restoring the JP's cell network. The team agrees and begins to search for Fumi.

Meeting Fumi

At the Nagoya TV Tower at Hisaya Boulevard, the team run into the woman from the Festival Gate the day prior. Airi identifies her as Fumi and notes her odd behavior. Botis, the same demon from the Festival Gate who appeared to teleport Fumi away, notices the group and has Fumi summon more demons. The group move to knock Fumi unconscious before she can continue to summon more demons like in Osaka.

After the battle, Fumi snaps out of her trance. She introduces herself, though expresses confusion at what she was doing and where she is. Joe and Airi bring her up to speed on her movements over the past two days along with the Nagoya branch. Fumi notices her PC had hacked the JP's phone network and quickly brings it back online. The team dial Daichi's phone but get no answer. Before Fumi can work to trace Daichi's movements, her computer's RAM begins to die. She requests the team to bring her more RAM to expedite her efforts.

Saving Jungo

If the team makes it to Akamon in Oosu before 12:30, they will arrive just in time to grab the RAM stick Fumi requires, allowing her to eventually trace Daichi and Jungo's location to the Public Science Museum. In the meanwhile, Joe muses over Nicaea's creator. Io notes how strange Nicaea's services are. Airi proposes asking Fumi what she knows, and the team agrees to ask her more later.

After an email from Fumi alerting them to Daichi's location, the team heads over to save their friends:

If Fumi was unable to replace her RAM or the group arrives at the museum after 13:30, they will arrive too late to save Jungo, but they will still be able to save Daichi, who expresses guilt over being powerless to save Jungo.
Otherwise, they will arrive just in time to prevent Jungo's death video and team up with him to save Daichi. After the battle, if Jungo was saved, the team will show him his death video and he will express gratitude for the team's efforts, electing to join them.

Fumi then arrives, and now that Jungo and Daichi's situations are resolved, the team decides to reclaim the JP's Nagoya branch.

Vs Phecda

The team arrives at the JP's Nagoya branch where Ronaldo and a group of civilians are working to claim JP's resources for themselves. A battle breaks out, and the team emerges victorious. After the fight, Ronaldo refuses to yield to JP's, but before the confrontation can progress further, giant bolts of lightning strike the area around them and Phecda breaks through the ceiling. Makoto calls the protagonist, alerting him to the threat and warning him not to engage the monster. Fumi rejects Makoto's orders, explaining that Phecda's target is likely the transformer station that supplies power to the Nagoya TV Tower, located in the JP's branch building. Armed with this information, the team elects to engage Phecda, and Ronaldo pledges a temporary allegiance given the circumstances.

After successfully defeating Phecda, Makoto appears. She lets Ronaldo off the hook for his actions as thanks for helping defeat Phecda. Ronaldo warns the group that Yamato is plotting something and not to trust him before leaving in a huff. Fumi questions Makoto's actions, though Makoto dismisses her concerns and says she will bear responsibility for her actions. She shares Hinako's intel about the names for the monsters matching the stars in Ursa Major with the team and once again thanks them for all they have done to help JP's since joining. Finally, she informs the protagonist, Daichi, Io, and Joe that their train back to Tokyo will depart at 19:30 and they are free to do as they please until then. Fumi and Makoto then leave to help restore the branch.

Io wonders about Ronaldo's warnings and Airi admits that supplies are thin. Joe and Io recognize they are likely being treated better than most thanks to JP's resources, and the team disperse.

Searching for Answers

After defeating Phecda, the following events must be viewed, though in no strict order:

The Server

Joe, Io, and the protagonist approach Fumi to ask her questions about Nicaea. She explains even she could not find any information on Nicaea, though shares a few theories she has. She infers that Nicaea releases death videos to allow people to stop the videos from happening, and the main key to stopping the death videos seems tied to summoning demons with its Demon Summoning Program. Together, they hypothesize that Nicaea's creator likely wants humans to use the summoning app to defeat monsters like Dubhe, Merak, and Phecda, as Nicaea allows them to summon demons that, unlike traditional weaponry, can harm and defeat them. Though they still do not know who is responsible for Nicaea, the group expresses satisfaction at having found possible answers for some of their questions.

Outlaw

The protagonist runs into Ronaldo, who recognizes him as a civilian rather than a JP's employee and appears happy to chat. He notes JP's desperation to recruit anyone who can use demons before introducing himself as a former detective. Before the calamity, he explains his mentor was looking into the Hotsuin family before suddenly disappearing without a trace. Not long after he decided to finish his mentor's work in his stead, Ronaldo bitterly recalls Yamato and JP's appearing to gather food and supplies while abandoning the people. He suspects Yamato or JP's has personally disposed of his mentor and encourages the protagonist to confront Yamato if he wishes to learn more about the truth behind JP's.

Target: Tower

The protagonist finds Joe at the Nagoya TV Tower, wondering aloud why the monsters appear to be targeting the TV towers and why JP's seems so desperate to protect them. The protagonist agrees something seems amiss, though neither has an answer about the towers' importance.

Back to Tokyo

The team assemble at the Nagoya station platform to head back to Tokyo. Airi, and Jungo if he is still alive, see them off, expressing gratitude for their help.

Back at Tokyo, Daichi notes his failure to accomplish his task and wonders if he is still welcome at JP's. Makoto dispels his doubts and the team head back to Tokyo in high spirits.

As usual, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico before going to sleep.

4th Day: Wednesday's Changes

Bud of Malice

Makoto gathers the protagonist's group and informs them that a JP's doctor from the Osaka branch will arrive soon to perform physical exams to assess their health. Makoto also informs the group that their allies from Nagoya and Osaka are en route to Tokyo to complete the exams. Daichi and the protagonist chat about what they have gained over the past few days, but their conversation is quickly cut short by an alarm: a monster has been seen heading towards Tokyo Tower. Makoto joins the team to suppress the threat.

At Tokyo Tower, the team engages in combat against a small monster that bears a strong resemblance to Dubhe's weakened form from Monday. The summoning application identifies it as Megrez. After routing Megrez, the team notes how weak it seemed compared to the monsters from previous days. Yamato calls the protagonist, informing him that the other Megrez bodies have also been easily defeated. Makoto dismisses the group, reminding them to reconvene for the health examination later.

During the health exams, an earthquake occurs. JP's discovers more Megrez bodies, and the team is sent to help defeat them.

Meeting the Anguished One

Back at Tokyo Tower, the team is once again faced with a Megrez body. Before a battle can begin, a mysterious man dressed in red and black stripes floats down from the sky and dispatches Megrez with a snap of his fingers. After addressing the protagonist as "Shining One," he names the monsters the team have faced—Dubhe, Merak, Phecda, and Megrez—as members of the Septentriones. Additionally, he notes that the small Megrez bodies JP's has been engaging with are nothing more than "buds" of its main body that will continue to appear until said main body is defeated.

Bifrons appears and offers to kill the tamers. The strange man threatens to erase the demon, and it retreats. Makoto demands to know who the man is, and he calls himself "the Anguished One." He tells the protagonist they will meet again before floating away in a flash of blue light.

Baffled, the team converses about how much the man seems to know and how subservient his demon was to him. Makoto agrees to report what they have learned to Yamato and cautions them to stay on guard for more buds. After Makoto departs, Io and Joe mull over how the Anguished One seemed capable of commanding demons without a summoning application and how he possesses knowledge even JP's lacks about the Septentriones. The protagonist proposes that he may be Nicaea's admin. The team agrees to ask the man about this whenever they meet him next.

The Terminals

At around 9:30, Makoto calls the protagonist and tells him Megrez buds have been sighted in Nagoya and Osaka, and Yamato has requested that he attend a strategy meeting in Osaka. The protagonist assents to meet Makoto at the SL Plaza in Shinbashi at 11:00.

At the SL Plaza, the protagonist is formally introduced to Otome Yanagiya, one of JP's' private doctors who was assisting with the physical exams earlier in the day. At the station platform, a particularly powerful earthquake hits, destroying the entrance behind them. Fumi calls Makoto and tells her that the train's tunnel has collapsed and the train cannot be used. She informs Makoto of an emergency exit at the station platform, but demons begin to appear, and the three are forced to fight their way through.

Partway through the fight, more rubble falls from overhead and blocks the way to the emergency exit. Otome suggests using the Terminal to escape, and Fumi agrees to repair it for use. The trio tries to buy time and fight off demons as Fumi repairs the terminal remotely. Once the terminal's repairs have finished, Fumi sends a pole down for them to cling onto and brings them to the terminal room.

At the terminal room, Makoto explains that the terminal is an instantaneous transfer device made from JP's technology. Otome adds that normally, Fumi maintains them, but since she went missing earlier in the week, they had not been well-maintained until she returned. Fumi sends Makoto a code, and before the protagonist can inquire about how safe the terminals are, Makoto activates the terminal, transporting them to Osaka.

After a somewhat turbulent landing in Osaka, Fumi pokes fun at the trio before informing them Yamato is waiting for them. They head to meet with him.

Megrez Meeting

Yamato relays new intel about Megrez: its buds cause devastating earthquakes, they are created and ejected from its main body offshore, and Dubhe is the result of a fully grown bud. Megrez is somewhere in the Pacific Ocean, and JP's is still working on countermeasures to take down the main body. For now, JP's agents will focus on defeating the buds quickly before they have the chance to trigger more earthquakes.

Knowing JP's is capable of handling the Megrez buds, Yamato instead asks the protagonist to handle dealing with civilian rioters who are stirring up conflict against JP's' efforts to contain the situation. He grants the protagonist freedom to deal with the conflicts however he pleases. Yamato then notes he would like to discuss something with the protagonist and requests he find him later before dismissing him.

Fumi calls the protagonist and informs him that the terminal system is now fully online and stable enough for regular use. She says Joe called her earlier before his call got cut off, and hangs up after telling the protagonist she has sent him and his friends the codes needed for Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka, allowing all of them to freely travel to any of the three cities whenever they wish.

Waiting for Megrez

Several events must be viewed to progress the story:

Confrontation

At Bickman in Osaka, the protagonist and his friends stop a conflict between a group of JP's agents and civilian rioters. True to Yamato's words, the protagonist can choose to side with either the rioters or the JP's agents, or to side with neither:

If the protagonist chooses a side, after the battle, the side he supports will voice gratitude for his team's assistance before departing.
If the protagonist does not choose a side and is forced to fight both the rioters and the agents, both sides will come to realize the difficulties the other is dealing with and apologize to each other after the conflict.

Interrogation

At JP's Osaka's headquarters, the protagonist asks Yamato what he wanted to speak about. Yamato asks the protagonist what "that man" told him, who the protagonist identifies as the Anguished One. Yamato asks why he appeared before the protagonist. The protagonist shares what little he knows, and Yamato seems to know something of the mysterious man's true nature. He warns the protagonist not to trust the Anguished One, and says he will likely appear again.

Yamato shifts the subject away from the Anguished One and notes his high opinion of the protagonist and his group. He praises the protagonist's ability to draw out the potential in those around him, citing surprise at mere civilians being able to stand up to the Septentriones. Finally, Yamato says he looks forward to seeing what more the protagonist can accomplish before dismissing him.

Nicaea's Master

At Shiba Park in Minato, near Tokyo Tower, the protagonist runs into the Anguished One, who greets him. The Anguished One reads the protagonist's intention to defeat Megrez and commends it as noble, stating that Megrez seems to be rising to the surface in response to the group or protagonist's will to challenge it.

The Anguished One continues, saying that he did not foresee the sudden invasion of the Septentriones. He distributed Nicaea to humanity after learning of the coming catastrophe, in hopes of granting them the power to fight for their own futures: the death videos as a tool to give humans knowledge of their fated deaths, and demons as a means to evade their fates. He calls the Septentriones "Swords of the divine" and admits he did not expect humanity to be capable of defeating them, even with the Demon Summoning App. He warns the protagonist that the Septentriones are tools of a greater will and that he will watch over them, before fading away.

Io's Inquiries

The following consists of a chain of three events: if not viewed on Wednesday, they will become required events on Thursday.

Demonic Inquiry: The protagonist finds Io at Omote Sandou in Aoyama, Tokyo, pondering what demons are. Io bounces ideas off of the protagonist, and the two note the Demon Summoning App's way of instantaneously transporting demons into their world bears similarities with the Terminal system. They decide to ask Fumi for more information about how the Terminals work.
The Terminal: At the JP's Tokyo branch, Fumi apathetically explains to Io and the protagonist that the Terminals run off of OOP Arts passed down through the Hotsuin clan. In short, the transmitting terminal breaks down an individual into matter-based information, then transfers that information from one location to another using a wave-based signal. The destination terminal then receives the individual's data and reassembles the individual accordingly. The protagonist and Io leave before Fumi can lecture them further.
Demon Origins: Later, in front of the collapsed Shibuya 901 building, Io and the protagonist surmise that demons must also be transported based on a similar system. Io hypothesizes that if demons' data is received from somewhere and recreated via the Demon Summoning App, then the demons are likely somewhere else before being summoned. The two wonder if the place where demons come from has any connection to the cause of the disaster and the Septentriones, but are unable to draw any further conclusions.

Apps and Muggers

The protagonist encounters Daichi and Io handing out food and supplies to a frantic crowd of desperate civilians without permission from JP's. They explain they wanted to help the civilians in some way, but did not anticipate that the situation would grow so chaotic. The protagonist decides to lend them a hand. As they thank him for helping manage the crowd, a crude man forces his way through and claims the supplies for himself, threatening to summon demons should any try to oppose him. The crowd panics, and in the chaos, the crude man and his compatriot steal the supplies and make a break for it. Io insists on reclaiming the supplies for the sake of the civilians depending on them. Seeing the commotion, the protagonist and his allies pitch in to help her and Daichi reclaim the stolen food and suppress the app abusers.

After defeating the app abusers and confiscating their phones, Daichi and Io thank the protagonist for his help, though they realize their efforts to help civilians by giving out free food did little to help anyone.

Saving Joe

At around 15:00, the protagonist overhears Hinako and Airi lamenting the chaotic state of the public due to the food shortages, demons, and scarce resources. Suddenly, all three receive a message from Nicaea: a death video depicting Ronaldo defending Joe from a group of demons before a Pyro Jack picks off Joe and kills him. Daichi and Io appear, voicing concern for Joe. Daichi tries to call Joe's phone, but the call goes straight to voicemail. Airi recognizes the location of the death video as Centering Park in Nagoya, and thanks to the Terminal system, they can quickly head over to Nagoya.

From 15:30 to 16:00, the team can arrive in Centering Park, but will be unable to find Joe during either event, as they will have arrived before the death video takes place. These events are optional, and do not need to be viewed to save Joe.

From 16:30 to 17:00, the battle event "Power Outage" will occur at Centering Park, Nagoya.

In it, the protagonist and his allies, now on time to prevent the death video, will overhear a group of civilians running away from the park. A man tells them that demons are on the loose, and a couple of people were not able to make it out yet. Rushing to the scene, Daichi spots Joe trying to guide a group of civilians away from the demons. A couple Pyro Jacks and a Loa appear and kill off two of the four civilians, and Joe is unable to defend them, as his phone's battery is dead. Before the demons can kill more people, the protagonist calls out to Joe. Ronaldo also appears, and the two team up to help Joe and the civilians escape.
After the battle, Joe sheepishly tells the party that he had been wandering around until he heard civilians screaming. He only realized his phone's battery was dead after he had rushed in to help the civilians. Ronaldo reprimands Joe for his foolishness and commends him for his bravery. Joe thanks Ronaldo for helping save his life, and makes a flaky promise to him and the protagonist to be more careful going forward. After Ronaldo leaves, Joe asks why the group was in the area, and the protagonist shows him his death video. Joe thanks the protagonist and leaves to find something to eat. The team breathes a sigh of both exasperation and relief, and they go their separate ways to prepare for the battle against Megrez.

If the team misses the opportunity to save Joe from 16:30 to 17:00, an unskippable event at 17:30 will occur where the events of Joe's death video will play out, and the team will be too late to save him.

Vs Megrez

Starting at 19:00, the countermeasure against Megrez will be completed. At JP's headquarters in Shinsekai, Osaka, Yamato will gather the tamers and inform them of Megrez's new movements: three main bodies have been identified, each moving towards Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya's TV towers. The protagonist asks why the towers are being targeted again, but Yamato bades him wait until after the operation to inquire further.

Yamato further explains that, considering how the Megrez buds seem to regenerate, all three main bodies will likely need to be defeated at the same instant. Thus, three teams will be formed to attack the bodies simultaneously: Makoto, Daichi, Io, and Joe will defend Tokyo Bay; Hinako, Keita, and Otome will defend Osaka Bay; and Airi, Fumi, and Jungo will defend Nagoya Bay. The protagonist protests that he has been left out, and Yamato, amused, explains that the protagonist can choose which team he wants to join. After the protagonist chooses the team he wants to help, Yamato stresses the importance of timing in the operation, and the teams disperse to their assigned locations.

During the operation, as the protagonist's team attacks their designated Megrez body, the protagonist will receive updates from the other teams affirming equal progress on their end. Once the protagonist's team has nearly finished their Megrez off, the other teams will confirm their targets are also ready to be executed. Yamato will then call, praising the teams for their hard work before ordering all three teams to deal the finishing blow. The tamers do so, and Megrez is defeated. Yamato calls the protagonist, confirming Megrez has been fully vanquished, and tells him and the others to bask in their victory.

The Black Scar

After Megrez's defeat, Ronaldo calls the protagonist by hacking into the JP's cell network and bades the protagonist to come and meet him in Nagoya.

At the Gold Clock in Nagoya, Ronaldo calls out to the protagonist. He explains that while occupying the JP's Nagoya branch, he grabbed as much data and information as he could. Though most files remain encrypted, Ronaldo was able to find harrowing images and videos of other cities being gradually swallowed by a mysterious black void. Additionally, while they know Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya are safe, he finds it strange that they know so little about the other cities they know JP's made contact with—Sapporo, Fukuoka, and Beppu. Ronaldo points at the photos, taken straight from JP's' servers, as proof that JP's is hiding something. The protagonist wonders if they can travel to Fukuoka and Sapporo via JP's Terminal system, and Ronaldo agrees it may be possible, as it is likely JP's has a branch and terminal in Fukuoka if it was one of the few cities they had contact with. The protagonist volunteers to search for the code needed to travel to Fukuoka, and Ronaldo gives him a photo of the black scar-like void in Hakata with his thanks.

As usual, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico before going to sleep.

5th Day: Thursday's Shock

Photo Investigation

The protagonist is awoken by Io, Hinako, and Airi. They inform him that Ronaldo has shown them the photo of the black void in Fukuoka and want to help the protagonist investigate, deciding to show Ronaldo's photo to people they trust to try and gather more info. After Airi and Hinako leave, Io stays behind and wonders if they should show the photo to someone who works for JP's. On cue, an irritated Fumi enters the protagonist's room and tells them that while there is a terminal in Fukuoka, she personally terminated its connection to the other terminals. She mentions misplacing an important photo before leaving.

Later, the protagonist and Io find Fumi's lost photo at the Festival Gate in Osaka. Io notices that the photo depicts Fumi with a non-Japanese family and wonders if she is from overseas. She entrusts the protagonist with returning the photo.

The protagonist finds Fumi at Kyobashi in Meihan, Osaka, and returns her effects to her. Fumi explains that she went to university abroad, and the photo is the only one she has of her host family. As thanks for the protagonist's help, she agrees to reactivate the Fukuoka terminal, but cannot give him the code due to Yamato's orders.

Poisonous Day

At Tokyo Tower, the protagonist finds Yamato observing the sky: he explains neurotoxin-related deaths have been steadily rising since dawn, and the only explanation for the toxin's spread is if it is being dispersed by air. Yamato concludes that the Septentrione is likely targeting Tokyo Tower. The protagonist asks why the towers are so important, prompting Yamato to finally explain.

In the past, the Hotsuin clan devised a way to mold the Dragon Stream into any form they saw fit. After the war,[a] the Dragon Stream was used to construct the TV towers across Japan, which project barriers that protect the surrounding area from any future foreign invasion. Should the towers fall or cease operation, that area's barrier will also collapse. Yamato claims this would doom the area to destruction.

After Yamato finishes, a JP's agent warns him that they have been exposed to the toxins for too long and must fall back. Immediately after, a round, striped object falls from the sky and lands behind them. The two JP's agents with Yamato attempt to investigate the organism. Moments later, it explodes into a misty red puddle whose fumes kill both agents.

Yamato concludes that this must be the work of the day's Septentrione. What they have seen also explains how the neurotoxins have spread so far: the Septentrione has likely been scattering poison across the region. Seeing an opportunity to track the Septentrione, Yamato orders the protagonist and his allies to defend him while he calculates the enemy's position based on the trajectory of the falling objects. Another object lands nearby, demons appear, and the team readies for combat.

Over the course of the battle, two more objects land nearby, allowing Yamato to gather the needed data to pinpoint the signature of a massive creature, Alioth, hidden in the skies above Tokyo Tower. He relays his findings to JP's agents stationed under the tower, sending them a filter module that will allow them to see the Septentrione. They confirm Alioth is above Tokyo Tower, poised to strike. Yamato orders them to cut the tower's energy supply, even though this will jeopardize Tokyo. After shutting off the tower and, by extension, its barrier, the JP's agent reports that Alioth changed course, heading north towards Hokkaido's tower in Sapporo. Yamato calculates they have a few hours before the Septentrione reaches Hokkaido. The protagonist agrees to help find a way to shoot Alioth down in the meantime.

Path to Pasupata

At Roppongi Hills in Tokyo, the protagonist finds the Anguished One standing around. He suggests following "the path to Pasupata" as a means to shoot down Alioth via JP's resources before vanishing.

Afterwards, the protagonist eventually finds Makoto stationed at Tokyo Station's Central Gate. He inquires about Pasupata, and Makoto explains it is the spear that Shiva carries, or a flame released from Shiva's third eye. In response to the protagonist's curiosity about Pasupata, she goes on to explain a myth about Shiva and Kama: the gods, wanting Shiva to take an interest in Parvati, asked Kama to shoot an arrow at Shiva. This disturbed Shiva's meditation, and in anger, he released Pasupata, incinerating Kama.[1]

Makoto then asks why the protagonist has taken an interest in the myth, and he replies that they can use it to shoot down Alioth. Though initially shocked, Makoto agrees that his plan is feasible as Shiva and Kama are under seals maintained by JP's. However, because both demons are so powerful, they cannot be summoned normally. Makoto suggests finding a dancer to draw Shiva's interest, due to the god's dominion over dance. For Kama, Makoto draws a blank, but jokingly suggests using sex appeal due to the god's dominion over desire. The protagonist is then tasked with asking two of his female allies for assistance in summoning Shiva or Kama.

Afterwards, the protagonist eventually makes his way back to the JP's Tokyo branch for a meeting. Yamato confirms that since Alioth is far enough away, the barrier over Tokyo has been reestablished. He then relays the plan to use Pasupata to the rest of the tamers: Hinako is assigned to help summon Shiva, while Airi is assigned to help summon Kama.[b] Once Alioth is over Sapporo, they will have Shiva loose Pasupata at Kama, positioned so Pasupata will also hit Alioth's core, causing it to fall to the ground where it can then be dealt with.

Io asks what will happen to Sapporo when Alioth falls on top of it. Yamato replies that Sapporo will be destroyed, but no lives will be lost. From this, the protagonist pieces together that the city has already been wiped out. Hinako and Daichi voice disbelief at this, but Yamato coldly continues, explaining that regardless of their feelings, the fact remains that Sapporo has been wiped out and Alioth must be dealt with, or else the remaining cities will follow suit. Though Daichi remains in shock, the other tamers agree they must do what they can to protect the living and decide to go forward with the plan.

The protagonist is then tasked with helping summon Shiva and Kama. The order in which he chooses to do so does not matter.

Ananga - Unsealing Kama

At Kannagi-cho in Shinjuku, Tokyo, the protagonist will meet up with Airi who psyches herself up for the task at hand. Fumi activates a small terminal to unseal Kama, though nothing seems to happen. The protagonist and Fumi prompt Airi to turn up her "sex appeal" to draw Kama's attention, but Airi lashes back. As Airi struggles to flaunt herself, Fumi pragmatically volunteers to take Airi's place, injuring Airi's pride as Daichi and the protagonist voice confidence in Fumi's ability. As a last-ditch effort, Airi starts to take off her shirt, which triggers Kama to finally appear in response to seeing Airi's belly button.

Airi asks Kama to shoot an arrow at Shiva, and Kama refuses out of fear of retribution. Fumi suggests capturing Kama as an unwilling participant instead, and the protagonist agrees. Kama objects and attempts to flee in the form of one of five Pyro Jacks. As Kama jeers at the group, Airi, indignant, lashes out at Kama, scaring the god. She angrily yells that she has worked hard to summon him for nothing in return, and threatens Fumi, Daichi, and the protagonist with violence if any of them let Kama escape. Fumi jokes that between Airi and the demons, the demons are likely the lesser of two evils, and they work to apprehend Kama under Airi's orders.

After apprehending Kama and defeating all the demons, Kama surrenders, though Airi beats him senseless anyway. Yamato appears and praises them for their work, assuring them that he will take Kama with him to Sapporo so that Pasupata will hit Alioth. Whoever escorts Kama risks both being burned by Pasupata and then being crushed by Alioth. Though Airi and the protagonist show concern for his safety, Yamato sees it as a way to prove his worth as chief of JP's to those who may think otherwise of him. Yamato then heads to Sapporo.

Nataraja - Unsealing Shiva

At the Nagoya TV Tower, Hinako, Io, Daichi, Makoto, and the protagonist gather to contact Shiva. After Hinako voices enthusiasm for the mission, Makoto brings up a terminal and sends a code to unseal the deity. Shortly after, a pond nearby begins to ripple before a massive whirlpool forms. A massive glow of light appears, and the whirlpool disappears.

The protagonist receives a call from Yamato, and relays his orders that Hinako must start dancing and cannot stop no matter what happens. Hinako, eager to begin, starts a traditional Japanese fan dance. A massive torrent of water bursts out of the pond before the group, and demons appear shortly after, seemingly in response to the burst of energy. Makoto orders the team to protect Hinako and the team prepares for battle amidst Daichi's complaints.

After routing the area of demons, Hinako strikes a final pose. Shiva, applauding, then appears before them and compliments Hinako's dance. He asks if Hinako has a request for him, and she asks for his aid. Shiva takes delight in Hinako's boldness and agrees to lend her his power one time before disappearing in a flash of fire. Daichi expresses doubts about if Shiva will help, but Hinako voices confidence in Shiva's promise. Makoto agrees Shiva has no reason to trick them, and Hinako celebrates.

After gaining Shiva and Kama's cooperation, the team will have little choice but to wait for Yamato to contact them when Alioth has made it to Sapporo.

Investigating Fukuoka

While waiting for Yamato's call, the protagonist and his friends can find Makoto at the Diet Building, who is busy preparing for a worst-case scenario should Alioth return to Tokyo. The protagonist asks Makoto about Fukuoka, and she asks how he knows anything about it, as Fukuoka's state is highly confidential. As Io and Hinako beg Makoto to help, the protagonist tells her they know about the black scar and shows the photo Ronaldo gave him, to her shock and confusion. Realizing Fukuoka's secret is out, she allows them to travel there under one condition: that she accompany them there due to the danger involved. She tells them to come back and visit her later.

Later, at Shinbashi's SL Plaza, Makoto meets the group and escorts them to the terminal, though Ronaldo also sneaks in unbeknownst to everyone. Makoto stresses how dangerous Fukuoka is before sending the code into the terminal.

Upon reaching Fukuoka, the team is confronted with a giant void of absolute darkness swallowing the city. Daichi asks for an explanation, and Makoto explains this is what happens when a city does not have a barrier. In a matter of days, the area will be swallowed up, and JP's does not know what lies past or in the darkness, referring to it as "the Void." Daichi begins to panic at this news.

The protagonist continues to question Makoto, and she shares JP's has no further information: no people, objects, light, or sound lie beyond the darkness, as the darkness swallows everything. The only barriers left are over Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, and Sapporo, and JP's has been unable to make contact with any other cities. She then apologizes that this is all she knows. The protagonist or Io will ask if anyone knows more, and Hinako wonders if Yamato knows more. Makoto says she cannot make any further comments on the matter.

Io reminds the team that before they can investigate further, they need to deal with Alioth. Airi agrees to confront Yamato afterwards. Daichi is shocked at Airi's fearlessness, and Hinako assures him that after Alioth is defeated, they will grill Yamato about what has happened to the other cities. The team reignites their determination to protect the remaining cities and leave Fukuoka.

Saving Otome

At 14:30, the protagonist will receive a death video from Nicaea, depicting the Anguished One watching Bifrons kill Otome at the Tsuutenkaku in Osaka. Immediately afterwards, the battle event "Unexpected Hostility" will occur at the Tsuutenkaku.

If the protagonist immediately heads to the Tsuutenkaku, he will arrive in time to save Otome. If Joe has died, this event is required and Otome will always be saved. At the Tsuutenkaku, he encounters Makoto, who informs him that JP's has just lost contact with a security team stationed there and there is an issue with the JP's communications network, explaining her dispatchment. The two then hear a man scream. Ahead, they see the Anguished One's Bifrons kill an agent and gloat over another. Otome commands Bifrons to back away from the other remaining agent, but the Anguished One stops her from interfering. The agent says he will not let them into the Tsuutenkaku before Bifrons incinerates him. The Anguished One scolds Bifrons, before Makoto and the protagonist arrive.
The Anguished One cryptically remarks that he only wishes to test the protagonist and Otome's death video was sent only to the protagonist as a means of testing his potential. Otome interjects and says that the Anguished One is after the Tsuutenkaku. Makoto and the protagonist are spurred into action, but the Anguished One leaves Bifrons to attack the tower, commanding the demon not to harm the humans. Bifrons summons a group of demons and commands them to attack the tower. Otome tells Makoto and the protagonist she will defend the tower while they focus on destroying the other demons. Makoto observes that the leader is much stronger than the others and suggests that they focus on the others, and the team prepares for combat.
After the battle, Otome expresses gratitude that the protagonist and Makoto were able to help her defend the tower. Makoto tells Otome of the irregularity in comms at the tower and then wonders why the protagonist had appeared. The protagonist tells them about Otome's death video, which was seemingly only sent to him. They piece together that the Anguished One would be capable of only sending the protagonist a video as Nicaea's admin, though they wonder at his true intentions. Makoto notes that he seems to wield powers far beyond any human, and the protagonist can postulate that he is a Septentrione. Otome will point out the flaw in this reasoning, which the protagonist agrees with: if the Anguished One was a Septentrione, his helping them in the past would not make sense. Otome wonders if he is an enemy.

If the protagonist ignores the "Unexpected Hostility" event, then at 15:00 a required battle at the Tsuutenkaku will occur.

In it, Otome will die, as the protagonist will be too late to stop the video, and Otome will be replaced with an unnamed male JP's agent for most of the event instead. After the battle, the protagonist and Makoto will talk amongst themselves, covering the same talking points as the post-battle event where Otome was saved.[citation needed]

Makoto then receives a call from Yamato and reports that the tower is secure. Yamato asks if the protagonist assisted in the defense, and is unsurprised to learn of his involvement. He then tells Makoto that preparations in Sapporo are complete and Makoto relays this to Otome, if she is alive, and the protagonist. Makoto asks the protagonist to take Hinako to the Nagoya TV Tower and places him in charge.

Afterwards, the protagonist receives a phone call from Fumi, who informs him that the Anguished One was seemingly targeting the tower's terminal interface. She explains that because Tsuutenkaku acts as the switchboard or nexus for the terminal system. Without it, the terminals would not work, though why the Anguished One would want to destroy the terminal system remains unclear.

Vs Alioth

At the Nagoya TV Tower, the protagonist and Hinako summon Shiva to commence the counterattack against Alioth. Yamato calls the protagonist to confirm Shiva is ready before beginning his end of the plan in Sapporo. In Sapporo, Yamato forcefully negotiates with Kama to get him to shoot an arrow at Shiva. As the arrow flies to Nagoya, Yamato raises the demon far into the sky with the Dragon Stream.

In Nagoya, Kama's arrow hits Shiva, enraging the god. In retaliation, he fires Pasupata at Kama, positioned in front of Alioth. Pasupata incinerates Kama and blasts Alioth out of the sky, landing on Sapporo as planned. Yamato calls the protagonist and explains Alioth's outer shell houses a large amount of gaseous toxins, which are seeping out into Sapporo, though it should not take long for the toxins to disperse. Hinako celebrates the plan's success, and the protagonist makes preparations to defeat Alioth's core.

Once the toxins have dispersed to a level safe for humans, the protagonist's group travels to Sapporo via terminal to defeat Alioth's core for good. Though Io and Daichi have doubts about how safe Sapporo is, Makoto arrives to assuage their fears and hands the protagonist a large cylinder containing a blue liquid. She explains it is a neutralizer, developed by Fumi from a toxin sample Yamato collected earlier in the day, which can neutralize Alioth's toxins for a time. Makoto entrusts the timing of using the neutralizer to the protagonist and they warp to Sapporo.

Daichi laments the state of the city, but before the team can grieve for the city's losses, Alioth's core and a group of demons appear before them. Makoto points out locations for the protagonist to place the neutralizer, and the team prepares for combat.

After defeating Alioth's core, Yamato calls the protagonist and commends him on his victory. In recognition of the team's efforts, Yamato invites them to a celebratory feast at the JP's Osaka headquarters at 18:00. Daichi celebrates, and the team disperses.

True Motive

The protagonist meets up with his allies for Yamato's feast at the JP's Osaka headquarters, who voice excitement for the celebration. Hinako asks the protagonist if he will ask about Fukuoka, and recommends caution. Yamato then appears and introduces the dinner party, though Makoto interjects and confesses to having committed "treason" against JP's, requesting an appropriate punishment. Yamato laughs and reveals he was already aware of Makoto having escorted the tamers to Fukuoka. He brushes Makoto's transgressions aside, citing them as trivial, but the protagonist then interjects to continue the conversation about Fukuoka and poke at Yamato's ulterior motives. Yamato, amused, decides to use this opportunity to explain the full situation behind the disaster to everyone.

According to Yamato, the culprit behind the world's destruction is an entity named Polaris, who believes mankind has gone against the order she envisions for them. Because of this, she has sent the Septentriones, pawns under her control, to wipe out humanity. Airi, and Jungo if he is alive, ask why they cannot just take down Polaris directly, and Yamato explains that Polaris is omniscient and defeating her would be infeasible. Additionally, her defeat would not restore the world. Instead, he seeks to work with Polaris to rebuild the world so it follows a meritocracy.

As everyone grapples with Yamato's declaration, he declares he will not force anyone to follow him and voices his determination to see his vision through, even if he must do so alone. The protagonist questions how Yamato can remake the world, but he laughs in response. He then suggests they think over his declaration and leaves them to their meal.

After Yamato departs, the team voices shock over his declaration and how he both knew about and hardly addressed their investigation into Fukuoka. Fumi and Makoto state they did not know about Yamato's intentions either, as he had not shared the full story about Polaris and his vision for a meritocracy with anyone in JP's prior to now. The team decides to take Yamato's advice to think over his words and consider how to respond.

An Explanation

After Yamato's declaration, the protagonist and Daichi find the Anguished One at Shiba Park in Minato, Tokyo. Daichi mentions their troubling situation, and the Anguished One infers they are referring to Yamato unveiling his intentions to the team. He apologizes for failing to stop the situation from unfolding. Daichi wonders if that is why he had attacked the Tsuutenkaku, and he confirms it was an attempt to kill Yamato by stranding him in Sapporo with Alioth. The protagonist asks why the Anguished One would kill Yamato, and the Anguished One says it was to stop him from reshaping the world by meeting with Polaris, effectively confirming Yamato's explanation earlier. Daichi asks him to explain more about Polaris, and he obliges.

According to the Anguished One, Polaris is a supernatural entity beyond human comprehension. She manages countless parallel worlds, including the one the protagonist and Daichi reside in, "flawlessly." She can also decide the fate of any of these worlds and can intervene in any of them. The protagonist and Daichi's world is one of these parallel worlds about to be deleted by Polaris: as it is slated for deletion, Yamato plans to take the world, alter it, and thereby create a new world.

The Anguished One also admits that before the invasion, Yamato sought him out for advice, and he gave it to him freely. Yamato was able to seek him out because historically, the Anguished One had granted the Hotsuin family summoning spells used to defend Japan. This past relationship led him to tell Yamato of the oncoming invasion, as he assumed Yamato would use the knowledge to protect humanity's potential. Instead, rather than protect the current world, Yamato used this information to form his plan to ally with Polaris and use her power to remake it.

The protagonist asks if they can do the same, and the Anguished One tells him that when the final Septentrione is defeated, the way to Polaris will open. This means anyone who meets with her can change the world, not just Yamato, with a caveat: Polaris will only grant what she sees as the will of humanity as a species. If the will of humanity, or what remains of it, is diffuse, no individual's will can be taken to represent it. He then fades away, and Daichi clings to his words about meeting Polaris. He tells the protagonist he will inform the rest of the group of what they learned from talking to the Anguished One in hopes of calming them down, as they have another option besides following Yamato. He then leaves to find the others.

Normality Gone

At the Sankyu Line in Umeda, Osaka, the protagonist finds a woman panicking while running from somewhere. She tells him that demon tamers are killing each other and urges him to run as well. The protagonist and his allies head to the subway platform to find two civilian groups at each other's throats over a territory dispute and step in to stop the conflict.

After destroying all the civilians' phones, the battle ends, though the leaders of the two civilian groups are still on edge. Before the conflict can escalate, Yamato appears and greets the protagonist. One of the civilians demands to know who he is, and in response, Yamato fires an Almighty spell near him as a warning, threatening to kill him if he speaks out of turn again. He orders the two civilians to leave and they do so without talking back. Yamato comments that this is what happens when humans do not have a hierarchy to follow, then praises the protagonist's potential, citing high hopes and an expectation that should the protagonist think logically, he will come to the same conclusion as Yamato has about what course the new world should take.

As usual, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico before going to sleep.

6th Day: Friday's Partings

Meritocracy and Egalitarianism

Daichi and Io wake the protagonist and inform him that Ronaldo is leading a group of civilians against JP's, in opposition of Yamato's vision of a meritocracy. While Ronaldo's faction spearheads a vision of egalitarianism, Io and Daichi express concern over the coming conflict and both sides' extreme views.

Afterwards, the protagonist can view a number of events between members of the cast, where each expresses what sides they will take in the coming ideological conflict and their reasons why.

Magic Circle

At Shinjuku's Metropolitan Plaza in Tokyo, Ronaldo leads the protagonist to a secret location underneath the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, unearthed by blueprints retrieved from JP's, where they find a massive magic circle. Based on his own investigations, Ronaldo realizes the circle belongs to the Hotsuin family, which he suspects is likely linked to some scheme of Yamato's. The two leave the area before they can be seen, and Ronaldo assures the protagonist he will continue investigating before parting.

Under Attack

At Sunset Blvd in Ikebukuro, Tokyo, the protagonist finds Fumi and Hinako on the trail of the day's Septentrione, reported to have fled to somewhere in the area.

If Keita is alive:

They find Keita facing the Septentrione, identified as Mizar. He punches the Septentrione's tentacle-like appendages, causing it to split into small, orb-like bodies that grow to a medium size. As Keita continues to attack the Septentrione's medium-sized bodies, they too split into two, smaller bodies, which eventually grow to a size identical to their parent organism.

Mizar's main body then escapes. As Mizar flees, demons appear, and Hinako makes the call to focus on clearing out the enemies around them before pursuing Mizar further. The group then ready for battle against the demons and the Mizar bodies. As the battle continues, the group discovers that the smaller bodies must be defeated before they grow into medium-sized bodies, and the medium-sized bodies will reproduce further if left alone.

After defeating all the small Mizar bodies and the demons, Fumi comments on the troublesome nature of the Septentrione's ability to infinitely replicate itself. Fumi questions a JP's agent about Mizar's abilities, and he shares intel that matches what the team has experienced: Mizar divides when left alone, attacking the main body causes many smaller bodies to split off, and the bodies it spawns then grow in size and spawn more small Mizars once at a large enough size. Thus, JP's has focused on reducing the number of small Mizars until a better solution can be found.

Fumi extrapolates that Mizar's ability for exponential growth will wipe them all out by the end of the day. The protagonist eventually brings up the magic circle he and Ronaldo discovered under the Tokyo Metropolitan Building, to Fumi's surprise. She tells the group that it is under Yamato's control, and cannot divulge any more information about it. The protagonist can suggest talking to Yamato directly, and his friends agree that Yamato may be amicable to the protagonist.

Trump Card

The protagonist walks in on Hinako and Airi questioning Yamato about the magic circle under the Metropolitan building. Upon noticing the protagonist, Yamato understands that Hinako and Airi have obtained this information from him, and expresses surprise that the protagonist found the circle on his own. Yamato decides to answer the protagonist's questions about its purpose out of respect for how the protagonist has taken initiative.

Yamato explains that the circle is used to harness the power of the Dragon Stream. If the magic circle is used, the power of the Dragon Stream will be depleted, and the barriers around Tokyo, Osaka, and Nagoya will collapse. The protagonist realizes this will cause the Void to swallow what remains of Japan, and Yamato affirms this. Yamato finally states he can think of no other way to counter Mizar, and asks the protagonist if he wishes to use the magic circle. Regardless of the protagonist's response, his allies will weigh the heavy risks involved.

Fumi asks how long the Void will take to swallow all the cities, and Yamato explains that it will be a race against time. He cites one day at worst to three days at best before the Void swallows everything. However, if Polaris makes a new world before the world is swallowed, they will be fine. Io wonders if only one to three days is enough, and Yamato states that he does not plan to wait to make his new world, triggering a dispute in the group about Yamato's intent to establish a world of merit. The protagonist steps in to silence everyone and brings them back to the problem at hand: defeating Mizar.

Yamato clearly lays out the two choices before them: use the circle to defeat Mizar and hasten the encroachment of the Void, or do not use it to defeat Mizar and watch the world end today. The group unites to defeat Mizar, leaving any ideological conflict for later.

Yamato explains that to use the magic circle, two steps must be performed. First, the three stakes in the three remaining towers must be pulled out, causing the barriers to crumble and allowing Yamato to fully channel the Dragon Stream. Second, the Dragon Stream must be given form, into a dragon that will devour Mizar, via a certain key: a demon called Lugh. Unfortunately, the area where Lugh was sealed was affected by the Void's encroachment when Tokyo's barrier was temporarily turned off to bait Alioth away from Tokyo Tower--because the demon draws power from the land where it is sealed, it is likely weakened and will need a human to act as its medium to supplement its lost power. Yamato says JP's will use the medical records obtained from Wednesday's health exams to assess candidates for Lugh's medium, and will send instructions later. Yamato then leaves to carry out preparations.

Hinako and Io thank the protagonist for getting Yamato to talk to them, and the group depart to prepare for the trials ahead.

Barrier Failure

The team assembles at JP's to ready the operation to pull the stakes at each tower. Team Tokyo (Io, Daichi, Joe, Makoto), Team Osaka (Hinako, Keita, Otome), and Team Nagoya (Airi, Fumi, Jungo), make a return from the Megrez operation, and the protagonist is again given the choice of which one he would like to lead. After joining a team, Yamato assigns the protagonist's team as the main force that will head to the source of the Dragon Stream at Mt. Fuji's crater via the terminal system. He gives the protagonist a code for the stake's control center, and the teams disperse.

At the Mt. Fuji crater, the team finds a massive facility called the Stake Terminal. Yamato calls and informs the protagonist that multiple steps must be taken to uproot the stake in the middle of the facility: first, the terminal at the lowest level must be activated, then codes must be sent to the stake from three locations in order to fully pull out the stake. Yamato warns that demons will appear as the team work to pull out the stake, drawn by the power of the Dragon Stream, and the operation begins.

After the stake has been fully deactivated and all codes sent, the stake begins rising into the air as the ground shakes. The team realizes that the volcano is showing signs of erupting, likely due to the influx of power from the Dragon Stream, and they hurry to the terminal. They watch the volcano erupt from behind them as they teleport back to Osaka.

The protagonist and his team reunite with the other tamers, and they all affirm that their tasks have been completed. Yamato commends them on their work and confirms that the barriers have dropped. He reminds them that by the end of the day they must choose where they stand on the creation of the next world, then proceeds to detail the next step of the operation: summoning Lugh.

Yamato explains that the individual who acts as Lugh's medium may not survive the process, to the team's shock. Yamato bluntly reminds them that they are out of options at this point, though Hinako asks if Yamato has tampered with the selection process by potentially choosing an individual who does not agree with his ideals. Amused, Yamato explains that there was only one viable candidate and offers full transparency with the results generated. Otome affirms Yamato's words, and the tamers promise not to hold a grudge.

Yamato then tells the team to take Io to Miyashita Park with the seal code needed to unseal Lugh. Members of the team recoil in shock, and Io, overwhelmed by this news, runs away. Yamato dryly continues, confident Io will return as she understands the importance of her role, and tells them to head to the park, with further instructions to follow.

After the team disperses, the protagonist receives a death video depicting Io on the ground outside of the Metropolitan Building, surrounded by the rest of the tamers watching over her. Hinako and Daichi call out to the protagonist and lament their situation: Mizar cannot be defeated without Io channeling Lugh, but doing so will cause Io to die. Daichi resolves to stop the death video, and they ask the protagonist to go after Io and talk with her.

Lugh and The Dragon

If Jungo is dead, the event Io's Resolve, a short event where the protagonist talks with Io to help steel her resolve in acting as Lugh's medium, will be required to progress the story. Otherwise, it is an optional event that will automatically disappear after the event Lamhfhada has been completed.

Lamhfhada

At Miyashita Park, the team is confronted with the Void, which has already consumed most of the area. They greet the protagonist, who is last to arrive, and with his arrival, they begin the operation to unseal Lugh.

Before the operation begins, Daichi comments on how despite everyone's differing points of view on what world to create after meeting Polaris, they have joined together now for a common cause. Though Fumi remarks that they may not work together for much longer, Io asks them all to at least play nice for the time being.

Fumi activates the terminal maintaining Lugh's seal and Makoto attempts to comfort Io. After taking a deep breath, Io tells Makoto she will be fine and to proceed with the operation. Trusting in Io's courage, Makoto releases the seal. They discover that Lugh's power is not enough to maintain a physical form, and the demon's body shimmers before dispersing into bits of energy around the area. Makoto orders the team to collect Lugh's energy fragments, though demons appear not long after, drawn by Lugh's energy. The team prepares for combat and begins collecting the fragments.

After successfully retrieving all of the fragments of Lugh's power and defeating all the demons, the team reconvenes. Fumi tells them to send Lugh's fragments to Io's phone, as the summoning app should be able to reassemble the demon from there. The fragments of power are sent to Io's phone, and she collapses. Makoto rushes to her, asking if she is alright, and Io responds that she is fine and slowly rises to her feet. The team celebrates Io's continued survival, but Hinako reminds them that Io's death video was not set in Miyashita Park. Yamato then calls the protagonist to confirm his end of the operation is complete. He then asks him to bring the team to the Metropolitan Government Building at around 18:30, and the protagonist relays this to the rest of the team. The team resolves to continue keeping Io safe.

The Dragon

At 18:30, the protagonist heads to the Metropolitan Government Building as planned and is greeted by Yamato, who leads him to the others. Before the ritual can begin, Airi and the protagonist recognize their location as the one featured in the death video. Io realizes this is where she is fated to die, but steels herself and moves into place to begin the ritual.

As the ritual begins, Yamato calls the protagonist from the giant magic circle beneath the Government Building, informing him that he is ready to start opening the Dragon Stream. Because of the high amount of energy involved, Yamato warns demons will be drawn to the area and stresses protecting Io until the ritual finishes. On cue, demons appear, and the team moves to intercept them. Additionally, while the team fend off the demons, Io takes damage from the effects of the ritual and must be healed if her health gets too low.

After a long battle, the ground begins to shake and Yamato commands them to fall back from the area. Lugh's power coalesces into Io, and a large magic circle appears under the party. They quickly fall back as Io flies into the sky and throws a spear of golden energy into the middle of the magic circle, piercing through it. The spear hits the massive magic circle underground, opening the Dragon Stream, which Yamato transforms into a massive dragon. The dragon begins to devour Mizar, though Mizar is able to hold on to the dragon's mouth to avoid being completely eaten. The dragon coils the top of the Government Building as the team watch from below. Yamato calls the protagonist and explains Mizar is holding on to the building, so the team must ascend to the roof and tear off its tentacles. He notes that while there is no immediate need to rush, the Dragon Stream will not maintain its form forever, and leaves the timing of the operation to the protagonist.

Meanwhile, Io lies on the floor of the plaza unconscious, as Makoto desperately calls out to her. The team realizes she is not waking up, and they begin to call out to her desperately.

Saving Io

Saving Io depends on her Fate level. If the protagonist completed the event earlier in the day, Io's Resolve, Io's Fate only needs to be near Stage 3 for her to wake up. Otherwise, she will only survive if she is at Fate Stage 4.[2][c]

If Io dies:

Io will not wake up, even after the protagonist calls out to her. The team will realize she has died, and an additional required event afterwards, Io's Death, will show them mourning her death and lamenting not doing more to help her before resolving to not let her sacrifice go to waste.

If Io survives:

Io will begin to wake up after hearing the protagonist call out to her, to the team's relief. They celebrate her survival and leave the area to prepare for the fight against Mizar.

Vs Mizar

The protagonist meets with Yamato at the Metropolitan Government Building plaza, and the team heads up the building to confront Mizar. At the rooftop, they see the Dragon Stream coiled around the two towers of the Government Building as Mizar's two tentacles hold on for dear life to a part of the Dragon Stream to avoid being fully consumed. Makoto suggests cutting Mizar's tentacles, though Fumi notes that hitting the tentacles will cause smaller Mizar bodies to split off from it, so every Mizar body will need to be destroyed. The team prepares for combat and moves to cut Mizar's tentacles.

After cutting Mizar's tentacles fully and defeating all its bodies, the Dragon Stream rips Mizar off of the building and devours Mizar. The final remaining head of the Dragon Stream falls to the ground below before rolling over and turning into stone. Yamato confirms Mizar's defeat and their victory. Though the team celebrates in the background, Yamato informs the protagonist of the now rapid progress of the Void and that he will move forward with his plan to create a world based on merit.

Daichi celebrates their victory, but realizes that the next conflict that awaits is an ideological one. He confides that he is not keen on either Yamato or Ronaldo's ideologies, finding both too extreme, and asks the protagonist if he has decided on a path. Daichi encourages the protagonist to talk to their friends before leaving to sort out his thoughts.

Saving Makoto

At 21:30, the protagonist receives a death video depicting Ronaldo killing Makoto at the JP's Nagoya branch. Daichi rushes over and voices confusion about Ronaldo's behavior in the video. He and the protagonist resolve to try and save Makoto.

In Nagoya, the event Ronaldo Rises will appear. Io, the protagonist, Daichi, and Joe will show up to the Nagoya JP's branch and hear sounds of conflict further in. They rush to the scene and find Makoto and Fumi working to defend the branch from civilian rioters led by Ronaldo. Makoto commands all personnel to fall back and escape, though in the process an agent is ambushed by a civilian and dies. Fumi eliminates the civilian in retaliation, though as she and Makoto make plans for escape, Ronaldo appears. Makoto urges Fumi to leave and stays behind to hold back Ronaldo. After Fumi has retreated, the protagonist's group appears, and both Ronaldo and Makoto ask them to lend them their strength.

The protagonist can choose to assist Makoto and the JP's agents, Ronaldo and the civilians, or to stop both sides.

After the fight, depending on who the protagonist helped, the defeated side will back down.

If the protagonist sided with Makoto, Ronaldo will back down, though not without declaring war on JP's as he retreats. She asks why the protagonist and his friends had shown up, and they will inform her of having seen her death video. Makoto expresses her gratitude at them saving her life, though the team shares anxious thoughts about Ronaldo's declaration.
If the protagonist sided with Ronaldo or sided against both sides and Keita is alive, the events of Makoto's death video will play out.

Similar to Otome's death video, where Otome will always survive if Joe's death video was not prevented, Makoto will always survive if Keita's death video was not prevented.

Unified Will

The protagonist arrives at the JP's headquarters in Osaka and finds his friends gathered there. They tell him they have been discussing their thoughts on Yamato and Ronaldo's proposals. Yamato himself then greets them, and shares an announcement. He tells them that while he has allowed them time to think and reflect on his ultimatum, they are out of time, and he will now begin to marshal JP's to realize his vision. Hinako asks what will happen to those who disagree with him, and Yamato says he will only kill those who actively stand in his way. As the group process this, Ronaldo appears and announces his intention to stand against Yamato and create a world of equality. Though Yamato initially does not pay Ronaldo much heed, members of the team voice support for Ronaldo's beliefs, and Yamato eventually agrees to grant Ronaldo the fight he desires, citing tomorrow as when their fight will begin.

The protagonist then asks if any other path exists, and Daichi speaks up, admitting that both paths feel too extreme for him. Yamato asks what path he is advocating for, and Daichi decides on a path where his friends do not need to fight each other to attain it. Hinako agrees with Daichi, and Ronaldo and Yamato raise no further objections to his vision.

Fumi interjects, clarifying that as all thirteen tamers have helped defeat a Septentrione, it stands to reason that any of them can open the path to Polaris. Additionally, three camps have now formed: Ronaldo's world of equality, Yamato's world of merit, and Daichi's third way. The tamers agree on a set of rules for the coming conflict: they will have by the end of the night to decide who to follow, with fighting beginning tomorrow morning. Defeated teams will be disbanded, but will not be forced to follow those they do not believe in. Instead, if they do not join the side that defeated them, they will be forced to back down from the battle to meet with Polaris. Content with these rules, everyone then goes their separate ways.

Friday Night: Route Split

Tico will contact the protagonist and remind them that the source of the invasion was and remains Polaris, the current Administrator, choosing to unleash the Septentriones on the world. Tico wonders if any of this would have happened if an Administrator more considerate of humankind with justice more amenable to humanity's were tasked with rule, before assuring the protagonist that he or she will support whatever decision the protagonist makes.

From 23:00 until the day's end, the protagonist will be forced to choose between up to four different events:

  • Daichi's Way, which leads to the Tokyo and Recurrent Routes.Commonly referred to as the "Liberator" and "Restorer" endings
  • Ronaldo's Way, which leads to the Nagoya Route.Commonly referred to as the "Egalitarian" ending
  • Yamato's Way, which leads to the Osaka Route.Commonly referred to as the "Meritorious" ending
  • A New World, which leads to the Alcor Route,Commonly referred to as the "Kingmaker" ending available after certain conditions have been met.

Daichi's Way

The protagonist meets with Daichi and finds that Hinako has already joined his faction.

If Jungo and Io are still alive, they will also have joined Daichi.

Daichi explains that he finds Yamato and Ronaldo's views too extreme and wants to find another path where everyone works together.

If the protagonist agrees to help him, Daichi's team excitedly welcomes him. They decide to use JP's' Tokyo branch, as Yamato and Ronaldo's factions have gone to Osaka and Nagoya, respectively. Before bed, as usual, the protagonist can hear a summary of the day's events from Tico.

7th Day: A Saturday of Coexistence

At 7:00, the protagonist is roused by Daichi and the rest of their team barging into his bedroom. As Yamato and Ronaldo's factions have shown no signs of movement, Hinako speculates that both teams may target them first, and the team plans to resolve fights and alliances as they come.

Daichi then notes that the path to Polaris has not opened yet, and the protagonist reasons that another Septentrione must be defeated. Daichi agrees, and infers that they also need to defeat the Septentrione before the other teams do, as only those who defeat it will be able to meet with Polaris. Hinako cautions them about the Void's advancement, and with the pressure of their friends, the Septentrione, and the future of the world weighing on them, the team sets out for the day.

Vs. Osaka

At Kudanshita, in front of the Bugeikan Arena in Osaka, the team is led into a pincer attack staged by Makoto (if she is alive), Fumi, and Keita (if he is alive). They echo their beliefs in Yamato's ideals before summoning demons and commencing battle.

After emerging victorious, the team wonders why Yamato was not present, and the protagonist reckons that he is likely waiting for them elsewhere. Hinako urges the protagonist to use this opportunity to persuade their past allies to rejoin them. The protagonist can then talk to Fumi, Makoto (if she is alive), and Keita (if he is alive) to try and recruit them to his side or part ways with them.[d]

Vs. Nagoya

The team rushes to the Fushimi Science Museum in Nagoya, after receiving an SOS from Airi, possibly signaling the appearance of the day's Septentrione. They spot her running into the museum and chase after her, falling into the Nagoya faction's trap. Airi and Otome (if she is alive) apologize for their underhanded strategy, but cite it as a necessity considering how strong the protagonist's faction is. After Airi's side echoes their beliefs in Ronaldo's egalitarian society, the two teams square off.

Daichi's team emerges victorious and the team lament having to fight their past friends. They also notice that Ronaldo and Joe were not present, and wonder where the two could be. The protagonist reasons Ronaldo may be targeting Tokyo.

Like the aftermath of the previous battle, the protagonist can then talk with Airi and Otome (if she is alive) to try recruiting them to his side, or he can part ways with them.[d]

Unknown Threat

The team rushes to Miyashita Park in Shibuya, where the day's Septentrione is rumored to have appeared, in hopes of dispatching it before either Ronaldo or Yamato can. They find Benetnasch on the edge of the park, surrounded by small Dubhe-like buds and pools of demon-summoning miasma. While attempting to fight it, they find it can dismiss their demons and is impervious to damage done by humans. With no way to victory, the team is forced to retreat.

Dream's End

In Tokyo, a civilian recognizes the group as members of JP's, and informs them that a group from Nagoya is giving a speech nearby to rouse anti-JP's sentiment. The team reasons this must be Ronaldo, and they decide to meet with him before he can convince the crowd to turn against them.

They find Ronaldo and Joe (if he is alive) at Shiba Park in Minato, and Ronaldo apologizes for drawing the group out like this. Both sides speak for their ideals before beginning the battle.

After emerging victorious, Hinako notes that the Nagoya faction is no more. Once more, the protagonist can then talk with Ronaldo and Joe (if he is alive) to try recruiting them to his side, or he can part ways with them.[d]

Strong Breaker

Near the Tsuutenkaku in Shinsekai, Osaka, Yamato suddenly calls out to the protagonist. After a brief exchange, he asks the protagonist to join him, but the protagonist shoots him down. Accepting that a battle must come to pass, Yamato tells the protagonist he will wait at the Tsuutenkaku before leaving.

Daichi then rushes to the protagonist, scared and worried at Yamato's sudden appearance. The protagonist informs him that Yamato is waiting for them up ahead, and they agree to meet his challenge head-on. Yamato aggressively shoots down any attempts by Daichi's team to reason with him, upset by how he sees the protagonist's allies as dead weights dragging his potential down with them, and the two sides ready for battle.

After defeating Yamato, he leaves the area. The team revel at how strong he was before celebrating that they have taken care of both the Osaka and Nagoya factions. Finally, the protagonist can try to persuade Yamato to join their cause.

Last Day: Sunday's Fruition (Daichi's Way)

At 10:00, the protagonist and his allies gather in the command room to discuss the upcoming audience with Polaris. Daichi lays out his current dilemma, based on Tico's words the night before: if the world is regressed, everyone's memories of the past eight days must be wiped, as otherwise their data in the Akashic Record would become corrupted and they would disappear completely. However, wiping everyone's memories would risk humanity repeating the same actions that led to the invasion and the world's destruction.

After some prodding from the team, Daichi voices hesitation in leaving everything up to Polaris, as she is the ultimate reason for the invasion and the world's destruction. Had Polaris not existed, the invasion would have never happened, and everyone's lives would have continued as they had. Ultimately, Daichi wonders if it would be better if Polaris never existed at all. The protagonist can suggest they kill Polaris, and Daichi admits he never considered the possibility. Though Hinako and other members of the team, if present, voice support for the idea, Daichi hesitates due to the unknowns surrounding what would happen if the world's Administrator dies.

At the Palace in Akasaka, the team runs into the Anguished One, who greets the protagonist. He tells him that the time to make his choice has come, and asks the protagonist of his will.

If the protagonist answers that they will restore the world, the story is set down the Recurrent route.
Otherwise, if the protagonist answers that they will defeat Polaris, the story is set down the Tokyo route.

Notes

  1. ↑ Likely World War II, though whether Devil Survivor 2 follows the real world's timeline is never confirmed.
  2. ↑ Yamato will always assign Hinako to help summon Shiva and Airi to help summon Kama. If the protagonist spoke with other characters instead, the only notable difference in outcome is the protagonist not earning Fate points with Yamato for talking to the correct people.
  3. ↑ Specific values: Fate 2 is reached at 102 points, Fate 3 at 134 points, and Fate 4 at 199 points.[3] She needs at least 190 points to survive normally, or 110 points to survive if the event "Io's Resolve" is triggered.[2]
  4. ↑ 4.0 4.1 4.2 Past allies can only rejoin the protagonist if their Fate level with him is four or higher, and if the protagonist chooses the correct dialogue options when talking to them one-on-one.
