Nicaea is an application in Devil Survivor 2.

Profile

Nicaea is initially presented as an online service which allows a user to receive videos portraying the death of a person they have a relationship with, simply referred to as "death clips". Though a person is never directly sent a death clip that they are the subject of, they may see their own death indirectly if they receive the death clip of a person who will die in the same event as them, and there is no restriction on who is allowed to see or hear of a death clip once it has been sent. This information allows the recipient of a death clip to intervene in the events leading up to the subject's death and avert it entirely. The application comes with an AI assistant named Tico, whose gender is chosen by the user, and it can be accessed by any device that can browse the Internet, notably including mobile phones.

In reality, Nicaea also contains a Demon Summoning App, which reveals itself when a user displays a strong will. The program is noted to be more effective than JP's in-house program, thus prompting the organization to switch to Nicaea. This is despite the fact that no information can be found on Nicaea, including the location of their servers or how it can function even on a mobile device with less processing power.

Devil Survivor 2

The Anguished One reveals that Nicaea is entirely his creation. He meant for the death clips and the summoning app to be used to avoid a person's fated death, though the potential that it awakened within the protagonist and his companions was far beyond his expectations, and he was completely taken by surprise that this power would let humans defeat the Septentriones.

Nomenclature

Nicaea is the ancient name of İznik, a city in the modern-day Bursa Province of Turkey. Nicaea was notably the site of the Council of Nicaea in AD 325, which formally defined several core doctrines for Christianity.
