Persona, released outside of Japan as Shin Megami Tensei: Persona, is a remaster of the 1996 PlayStation role-playing game Megami Ibunroku Persona, the first entry in the Persona series. It was developed and published by Atlus for the PlayStation Portable and released on April 29, 2009 in Japan, and on September 22 of the same year in North America. On August 11, 2010, the game was released digitally on PlayStation Network in Europe.

The remaster features a more faithful localization outside of Japan compared to its original PlayStation release in North America, where it was titled Revelations: Persona. It also has a brand new soundtrack by Shoji Meguro.

Version Changes

No reason provided.
  • The map screen is in 2D instead of 3D.
  • Multiple difficulty settings
  • A brand new translation more accurate to the original Japanese version. Character changes made in the English version of Revelations: Persona are undone.
  • The Snow Queen Quest, which was removed from Revelations: Persona in North America, is restored
  • New voice acting (English version only) and sound effects
  • New cutscenes presented in 3D CGI animation. In the English version, there is voice acting, while in the Japanese version, characters other than Philemon are silent and there are subtitles.
  • Brand new soundtrack by Shoji Meguro, replacing the original. There are fewer tracks in total.
  • Some bosses had their races changed. This results in the Lady race (originally borne by Hariti) becoming entirely unused.
