Origin

Vidofnir (Old Norse: Víðópnir) is a rooster that sits atop the tree Mímameiðr according to the Fjölsvinnsmál. Laevateinn is the only weapon that can kill him.

Because Mímameiðr is a possible Heiti for Yggdrasil, Vidofnir is often assumed to be Veðrfölnir, the rooster which sits at the brow of an eagle at the top of the world tree.
