Game Appearances
Reiko is a secret partner who can be recruited at the start of the game. If the Protagonist refuses to partner up with Yumi Shirakawa or Shinji Kuroi and heads down to the Music room on the school's first floor, the Protagonist can find Reiko, who recognizes them and notes how calm they seem to be, but seems to be in a hurry herself and quickly leaves the room without explaining the predicament the school is in. After speaking to the rest of the NPCs in the building, the Protagonist can return to the Music room to find Reiko in the room again. This time, Reiko formally introduces herself and explains that she knows who is behind the disturbances the school is facing and how to solve the problem, the only thing she needs now is the Protagonist's help. If the Protagonist agrees to help her, they are locked onto Reiko's route.
From there, Reiko joins their party and reveals that Ideo Hazama is the one responsible for the disturbances, explaining that due to his trying to summon a demon into the school, the school was instead pulled into the Makai. Reiko is convinced that if they can find Hazama, they can persuade him to send the school back to the human world, so she and the Protagonist head off to locate him.
Reiko momentarily speaks up to ask Professor Yahata to lend the Protagonist his laptop, and when they receive his COMP instead, she comments that now they will be able to run the Demon Summoning Program on it, allowing them to recruit and summon demons. Soon after, the two of them encounter Hazama's astral projection, confirming Reiko's claims that he is responsible for pulling the school into the Makai, but also leaving Reiko shocked that he has become the Deity Emperor. As Hazama directs them to find an item in the gym that will allow them to leave the school and explore the Makai, Reiko encourages the Protagonist to help look for the item. When she and the Protagonist make it to the Chamber of Seals, Reiko comments that it looks like a sort of temple and that it is just like Hazama to make something like it.
Reiko does not speak up again until the party makes it to the World of Envy. Early into exploring the dungeon, a handsome young man approaches the group and seduces Reiko, making her leave the Protagonist's party, and forcing them to traverse the rest without her. At the end of the dungeon, the Protagonist finds Reiko with the young man again, who in reality is an illusion made by Hazama of her ideal partner. If the Protagonist is male, Reiko, still under the illusion's spell, compares the Protagonist to the ideal partner and says that he cannot show her the same protection and kindness the ideal partner shows her. If the Protagonist is female, Reiko denounces their friendship as being fake. In either case, she tells the Protagonist she no longer needs them, and if the Protagonist still refuses to give up on Reiko, she sends a Lilith onto them to get rid of them. After Lilith is defeated, however, the ideal partner disappears, and Reiko returns to her senses and is unable to remember what happened, then proceeds to rejoin the party.
After the party is transported back to the school after breaking the seal in the Chamber of Seals, Reiko notes that Hazama's power has not decreased and also that something looks weird about the school. She and the Protagonist discover that the entire student body and staff have vanished aside from Doctor Kayama, and when they get to the school's now-accessible and transformed upper floors, Reiko explains that this is the school that Hazama made for himself, and comments that its empty appearance is like a reflection of his empty soul. Making it to the top floor, the party finally confronts Hazama, who explains that the school is empty because he does not need anything, but in response, Reiko brings up the fact that Doctor Kayama is still in the infirmary, making Hazama flustered. Hazama tells her to shut up and attempts to dissuade the notion that she understands him, declaring after that he has no more need of her and the Protagonist, and ignoring Reiko's pleas that she wishes to save him, transforms to attack them. After they defeat him, Hazama's body turns to stone, leaving Reiko to lament her failure to save him, however, she and the Protagonist are then transported into his mind via the power of the Ring of Salvation that Hazama dropped. As Hazama's mental world and the Makai are intact, Reiko realizes that Hazama still needs help, so the party journeys across it to defeat the monster deep in his psyche.
In one of the flashbacks of Hazama's life found in the Psychic world, it is revealed that Reiko is Hazama's sister; Their mother had divorced their father and left the Hazama family, taking Reiko with her while leaving Hazama with the father. Sometime later, a young Hazama reunites with a young Reiko and their mother, who comments that it has been so long since they've seen each other that Hazama might not recognize her, and proceeds to tell Reiko to greet her brother, though Reiko remains silent as the flashback ends. Soon, the party makes it to the core of Hazama's mind, where they confront a representation of Hazama's psyche, who refuses to allow them to touch him and transforms to attack them. When he is defeated, however, Hazama undergoes a mental breakdown, unable to process this defeat, and regresses to a child-like form as he continues to cry and break down about how they are picking on him. Reiko then picks him up and tells him not to cry as she comforts him. Reiko tells Hazama that she will not abandon him, which makes him slowly stop crying, reverting him to normal as he embraces Reiko. Hazama admits what a fool he was not to realize Reiko's love was always there for him and promises that now he will never let her go, a sentiment Reiko reciprocates. The Protagonist is then transported out of the room, with Reiko's voice speaking out to inform them that since Hazama's warped mind is returning to normal, the Protagonist must leave. Reiko continues speaking to them as they traverse back to the Psychic World's exit, detailing that while Hazama was a kind person, there was no love from the people around him in his life. She does not expect anyone to forgive him for his actions, but vows that she will never allow it to happen again, and admits that while traversing the Makai with the Protagonist was painful, it was also enjoyable. Reiko says that their journey was a journey to save Hazama, and sincerely thanks the Protagonist for helping her save him. Reiko says they will likely never see each other again, and if the Protagonist is female, says that if things were normal, they might have become good friends. If the Protagonist is male, she hints that they could have become something more than friends if she did not have to take care of Hazama, but is resolute in her decision to stay with him forever. Reiko reminds the Protagonist to hurry as Hazama's mind is quickly returning to normal, and right before they leave, tells them to break the contracts with their demons and set them free, as they cannot take them back to the real world.
In the epilogue, it is said that while Reiko and Hazama had disappeared, those who met them had their lives forever changed.
If the Protagonist is on Yumi or Charlie's route, Reiko can be found with the other unchosen partner in the World of Sloth. She wonders why Hazama is forcing them to labor in the mines.
