This is a complete summary of Shin Megami Tensei if...: Hazama Hen. Be warned that spoilers are detailed below.

Tower of Infinity

Hazama is a second-year high school student who obtains the Demon Summoning Program through the Internet. Most people who encounter the program discard it, but Hazama uses his intelligence to operate it. He discovers the Tower of Infinity in the Expanse, a place he believes possesses special power, and enters it in the hope of gaining enough strength to do as he pleases.

Upon entering the tower, Hazama encounters Amon, a demon he summoned to protect himself in the Expanse. The two learn that the Demon King has taken control of the tower and sealed its pathways. To reach the upper levels, Hazama and Amon travel through the tower's sections, known as Baxes, and defeat the guardians protecting its sealed gates.

In the First Bax, Hazama and Amon defeat Apaosha. They proceed to the Second Bax, where they defeat Bushyasta, followed by Druj in the Third Bax. Amon then temporarily leaves Hazama to undergo training. Hazama continues alone and reaches the Fourth Bax, where he defeats Jahi. Amon later returns and rejoins him.

Hazama and Amon eventually reach the Demon King's domain and confront Angra Mainyu. After defeating him, Hazama wonders why he has not yet obtained the power he sought.

Heaven Bax

Hazama continues upward into the Heaven Bax, where he experiences a series of memories from his past. He remembers other students gossiping about his unusual behavior and Otsuki lecturing him about science and insisting that demons do not exist.

Hazama also remembers his mother apologizing for abandoning him and Kayama showing him concern and kindness. These memories reveal the resentment and loneliness underlying Hazama's desire for power.

Deity Emperor

At the top of the Tower of Infinity, Hazama confronts Zurvan, the tower's true ruler. After defeating Zurvan, Hazama obtains omnipotence and gains the ability to separate his mind from his body. He then terminates his contract with Amon and kills him by removing his soul from his body.

Despite obtaining godlike power, Hazama's inner voice reveals that his remaining human resentment and desire for connection prevent him from becoming a truly absolute god. Nevertheless, he takes control of the Tower of Infinity and declares himself the Deity Emperor, becoming the ruler of the Expanse.

Expert ending

In the Expert ending, Stephen appears before Hazama and makes a request. Hazama refuses the request, maintaining his position as Deity Emperor.
