Mitsuaki Madono
Mitsuaki Madono is a Japanese voice actor who does anime, video games, and Japanese language dubbing. He is known as the voice actor for Tohru Adachi in the Persona series. His other notable roles include Kon in Bleach, Kaname Ohgi in Code Geass, Josuke Higashikata (part 8) in the JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fighting games, and the Japanese language dubover voice for Kermit.
Biography
Mitsuaki Madono was born in Osaka. As a child, he was interested in acting because of a comedy group that performed in Osaka. During university, he joined a theater company and also attended a voice actor school.[1] He debuted as an anime voice actor in 1989, but was living in poverty and at one point found himself sharing dry ramen with a rat in his apartment.[2] His first major role was in the anime adaptation of Ninku in 1995.
In the mid 2010s, Madono had expressed interest in portraying his Persona series character, Tohru Adachi, on stage. At the time, there had been three previous Persona 4 stage plays. However, he was in his early 50s, and the actors involved in these game stage plays that involve hybrid 2D/3D fighting sequences were usually in their 20s and 30s. Having recently overcome a health issue, he challenged himself to learn sword fighting and get in shape to perform in the Persona 4 Arena Ultimax stage play.[3]
