The Millennium Kingdom, also known as the Thousand Year Kingdom in the Aeon Genesis fan translations, is a recurring concept in the Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei series and the Shin Megami Tensei series derived from the Book of Revelation.[1]

Background

In chapter 20 of the Book of Revelation, it is stated that Christ will reign with Christian martyrs for a thousand years after the dragon (Satan) is imprisoned and can no longer deceive the nations.

This has been interpreted various ways by different theologians, with the historically dominant view, amillennialism, being that the thousand years are a metaphor for the present age of the Church.[2][3] A second interpretation, premillennialism, is that the thousand-year reign is a period of time to come into the future after Christ's Second Coming; versions of premillennialism are held especially amongst Evangelical denominations, though many early Christians held a premillennial view as well (though not the same as modern premillennial dispensationalism).[3] A third point of view is postmillennialism, which posits that the thousand-year reign is to occur before Christ's Second Coming and is brought about through the spread of the Gospel.[4]

Shin Megami Tensei

It is the Messian Church's goal to bring about the Millennium Kingdom, which they claim to be a utopia of eternal peace.[5][6][7] Gotou, however, states that those not welcomed into the Millennium Kingdom would be killed,[8] a sentiment that is reciprocated by Echidna, who similarly claims that only those who are devout followers of the God of Law will be allowed into the Millennium Kingdom, whilst the rest suffer.[9]

Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2

Uriel and Michael briefly mention the Millennium Kingdom.[10]
