Kanaloa is a deity in the traditional Hawaiian religion who is associated with the ocean. Iconography traditionally associates him with the squid.

Analogues can be seen in the beliefs of other Polynesian-speaking peoples, such as Tangaloa of the Tongan people and Tangaroa of the Maori people, though such beliefs are diverse.

邪悪な臭いのする執念深い神であるカナロアも、世界を創造した神々の１柱であった。この神々らが互いに争うようになった時、彼は海へ逃げた。

魚や爬虫類は、彼の子供たちである。人間たちに自分の子供を捕らえる術を教えたカネらに復讐するため、カナロアはカヌーを沈め、洪水を引き起こす。さらに波を打ちおこしては、海岸を侵食している。

A spear squid god of Hawaiian mythology regarded as opposing the creator god Kane. Known by the name of Tangaroa in other Polynesian regions.

Kanaloa, a vengeful god who reeks of evil, was also one of the deity who created the world. When these gods began to fight amongst themselves, he fled to the sea.

Fish and reptiles are his children. As revenge against Kane, who taught humans how to catch his children, Kanaloa sinks canoes and causes floods. Furthermore, he creates waves, eroding the coastline.
