Profile

Origin

Main section: Amaterasu § Origin

Design

Amaterasu was designed with bright light coming from her body to emphasize her origin as a sun goddess. The sword she wields is the Kusanagi no Tsurugi, which Soejima notes is also wielded by Naoto's Yamato Takeru. The pieces on her arms are modeled after the 2nd class insignia for the Order of the Rising Sun, an award for non-military achievements.[1]
