An unknown time before the events of Persona 5, Yaldabaoth manages to capture the Velvet Room, Igor, and Lavenza. They corrupt the Velvet Room into a prison aesthetic, and split Lavenza into Caroline and Justine, the "Twin Wardens".
After Joker fails to defeat the Holy Grail, and fuse Caroline and Justine back into Lavenza, the false "Warden" Igor reveals themselves to be Yaldabaoth, and Igor returns to the Velvet Room. He then explains the rest to the other Phantom Thieves after Joker finds them in the reaches of the Velvet Room's prison, and urges them to go forward to defeat Yaldabaoth, who has merged Mementos with the real world.
Similar to their imposter, Igor does not do any fusions in this game, instead letting Lavenza preform all fusion actions instead.
