File sourcing

Hello there, I'm part of the wiki's staff. First of all, thank you for contributing to the wiki with your uploads! I do need to point out though that a lot of your uploads have not been following all of our file guidelines, particularly with how some files do not have a source. We generally require that all files be properly sourced and their fileinfo summary be filled. Please take the time to review our guidelines.

I've noticed that your uploads related to P3R and P3 concept art have not been sourced. Could I ask where you got these from? Thanks. — RustyVanBurace (talk) 16:54, 9 November 2023 (UTC)

Sorry for the late response. You caught me just when I forced myself to leave because I've been spending way too much time here instead of my own projects. As for sources, I was send a zip file with the artbook in it, but I do not know the original source as in a link for it. Should I just put "P3: Official Design Works"? I've also been looking around https://www.spriters-resource.com/ but I have been linking that when I can. As for P3R, most of them are from articles on p-ch.jp. I cut out the white background myself on the portraits and battle art. I also found this site that had some high quality screenshots here and there but I haven't used any from here yet. https://press.plaion.com/Persona-3-Reload

If someone hasn't already, I'll go back through my uploads and add those sources. Also while you're here, I'd like to ask if the P4 Arcana cards should be added? I think they're identical to the P3 ones but maybe a little longer horizontally. Or would it make more sense to update the caption to say "P3 and P4".

And also about the abilities pages. Is it preferable for them to be tables like they are on the rest of the abilities pages instead of using the ability template?

Hi, thank you for your patience. So for the concept art scans, you should actually just source yourself by linking to your userpage. As for the P5R images, because the press release content you linked to has been publicly made available, that would be an acceptable source to link to. You would link to its URL then as a source. We can update the sources, but you're free to go ahead too with the above.
As for the Arcana cards, you can upload the P4 versions separately if they differ. I'm afraid I do not quite follow your question on abilities, but it is generally always preferred to use a table template for compiling data. Hope that all helps. — RustyVanBurace (talk) 20:51, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
I see, thank you. I will update the sources again when I get a chance if I happen to get to it before you do. Sorry if my question was unclear. I'll try to explain better. As an example, on the Skills_in_Persona_3 page, I used the Template:Skill_List template I found because I saw the Skills_in_Shin_Megami_Tensei page using it. However, the rest of the skill pages use regular wiki tables and have more specialized table headers. For example, Skills_in_Persona_5_Royal, Skills_in_Shin_Megami_Tensei_V and Skills_in_Megami_Ibunroku_Persona. I didn't see any guidance on what to do in the wiki guidelines so I went with the template since it's easier to read while editing. I ran into a similar situation with Equipment_in_Persona_3 and Items_in_Persona_3. I saw other pages had specialized templates specifically for the game like Equipment_in_Last_Bible or the template on the page couldn't be sorted (like Equipment_in_Shin_Megami_Tensei) so I made P3 it's own templates... Template:P3_Items, Template:P3 Weapon and Template:P3 Accessories. I'm wondering if there should just be general "Persona Items", "Persona Weapons" and "Persona Accessories" templates for item lists and equipment lists. Should all these various skill, equipment and items list pages be made standard somehow? --Kirabook (talk) 22:17, 10 November 2023 (UTC)
To be honest, the Skill List template we have now is a temporary measure and is going to be gradually depreciated. We have slowly been making specialized skill list templates that pull data from the skill data tables on the wiki. You can see this presently with Skills in Persona 5 Royal. I would not worry too much about the skill listings now, especially as a lot of people have defaulted to making placeholder wikitables until proper templates can be made.
I also wanted to ask another thing about one of your uploads. File:P4AU Marie Artwork.png does not have a source either, so could I ask about that? Actually, do you happen to use Discord and would be willing to join our Discord server? AI upscaling

Data Templates

Heya, I saw you were making an enemy table for P3. Both my skills data and my enemy data are actually Google Sheets that I just copypaste into the wiki data templates:

I think this is significantly less of a headache than trying to enter data in the wiki's regular editor, but it does require you to have an idea of what you're doing with Google Sheets and a ton of textjoin statements. Oh thanks! I'm pretty handy with google sheets so I think I'll try that out. I was going to just do it all by hand since I'm used to handling raw text from my job but this will be a lot better with less mistakes. --Kirabook (talk) 23:33, 18 December 2023 (UTC)

Enemy Stats

I made some changes to the P4G Shadow template so it plugs in to use the data template directly instead indirectly and also accounts for stuff like some mobs in P4G not having a "location" (summoned by other mobs): https://megatenwiki.com/wiki/User:Cabbage/Sandbox2 It is currently awaiting approval from Rman, who made the original P4G Shadow table. Assuming it gets OK'd, can do syntax like, 

{{P4G Shadow Stats|Tohru Adachi}}

instead of all of the values it uses now. If you'd like to hold off on making the Shadow pages for now, I imagine the code is reusable for P3 as well. (╹ڡ╹ )

I do have a discord though I was waiting until the last possible moment to join since I don't like being in too many servers. Lol. But I will join soon most likely. Regarding the template updates, I'm going through the ones I already did and adding "|{{PAGENAME}}| in front while leaving the other data so that the transition will be less awkward. P3 Template

Sorry to bother you, but it seems we accidentally made a similar template at the same time. I would've warned you if I knew you were working on this, but I just recently published the template we'll be using for P3, FES, and Portable personas moving forward (P3R will have a seperate one made by Rman). Hopefully it won't be an issue though since it's basically identical to the one you made anyway. Sorry for any hassle 😅.

Yea, that'd be great. Assuming there are no differences between versions as to where separate templates would be beneficial, then yes, but also I'd also heavily recommend joining the wiki discord like cabbage was saying for easier confirmation. Also you're such an active editor I'd probably be good if you were more in the loop (no hassle if you're not interested tho, talk pages are perfectly fine). Btw I also updated the P4 Persona template and added documentation to both the P3 and P4 Persona Stat templates.

Hi, may I ask you where did you find those Devil Summoner 2? Did you scrap them by yourself? I was looking for a clean model of Chou-Keshin (チョウケシン) but I can't find it anywhere. Thx in advance!
