In Greek Mythology, Polydeuces is the twin brother of Castor, and together they were known as the Dioscuri or The Hero Twins. They both have the same mother, Leda, but have different fathers, Polydeuces's father is Zeus, while Castor's father was Tyndareus, a mortal man, hence Polydeuces is immortal, while Castor is mortal. During the death of Castor, not wanting to be seperated from his brother, Polydeuces asked Zeus to share his immortality to Castor and they were transformed into the Gemini constellation. His name means "much sweetness", or "much sweet wine".
