Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey is a 2009 role-playing game for the Nintendo DS, and the sixth entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series.
After a scientific research team at the south pole reports the appearance of a giant black void and then goes missing, an Intergovernmental Body sends a team to enter the void, dubbed the Schwarzwelt. The Schwarzwelt is predicted to expand continously and consume the whole world, unless the protagonist and their team can successfully infiltrate it and discover how to neutralize it. After a blast crashes their ship into the void, they find the Schwarzwelt to be a setting infested with demons.
Strange Journey is a "side-story" in the Shin Megami Tensei series,[a] but is still officially considered to be part of the mainline series as it shared the same developmental staff.[1][2]
A remake of the game containing additional content and story changes, titled Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux, was released for the Nintendo 3DS
