"Tokyo Cosmos" is a Challenge Quest in Shin Megami Tensei IV.

Overview

This quest is available from the Hunter Association in Ginza during the Neutral route. It must be completed as part of "The Great Spirit of Hope".

Upon entering Gokoku-ji Temple with the quest active, a messenger, expecting Flynn's arrival, gives him the Orb of the Four Gates for the Trial of the Four Devas. He explains that the Orb of the Four Gates holds the memories of battle, but will break if it absorbs too many -- the messenger advises Flynn to avoid battle whenever possible to prevent it from breaking. Flynn's objective is to defeat the four Devas, which are located in four different areas throughout Tokyo. The messenger then asks Flynn if he's ready to begin the trial. If he answers Yes, then he will start carrying the Orb.

Every time Flynn runs out of Press Turn icons, a crack appears in the Orb of the Four Gates, and it takes damage. If the Orb's HP reaches zero, then the quest must be restarted.

After defeating the last Deva, all four appear at once, and Bishamonten declares that the final stage of the trial has begun.

Once the four Devas have been defeated, Koumokuten says that Flynn is the first person to complete the trial without breaking the Orb, and Jikokuten gives him the reward they promised. The quest is completed after that. Bishamonten declares that Flynn must be the reincarnation of the man who saved Tokyo from destruction. He notes that even though Flynn is treading a path of hardship, the future he strives for will never waver, and tells Flynn that he looks forward to seeing what feats he will accomplish.
