Morgana, also known by his code name Mona, is a playable character in Persona 5 and a founding member of the Phantom Thieves. He is an anthropomorphic cat-like creature lacking memories of who he truly is, but knowledgeable about infiltrating Palaces and the Metaverse. In the real world, he appears as a normal tuxedo cat, accompanying Ren Amamiya in daily life and living with him at Leblanc. He can only be understood by those who have heard him speak in the Metaverse.

In Persona 5, Morgana is the third party member to join the Phantom Thieves, although the second to participate in battle. He acts as the Confidant for the Magician Arcana, which progresses automatically over the course of the story.

Manual Descriptions
Persona 5	A strange, cat-like creature that the protagonist and Ryuji saved from a Palace in the Metaverse. After that, it decides to live under the same roof as the protagonist. It's full of mystery, and is able to not only understand human speech and change outfits with ease, but also completely alter its physical form. Despite its tendency to hurl insults, it is a very devoted friend to the Phantom Thieves. It is adamant about not being a cat.
Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight	A mysterious being who was found in the Metaverse. Codename "Mona." He's an irreplaceable member of the Phantom Thieves, providing guidance to the protagonist and his friends in their mission. He boasts that dancing is only natural for him as a gentleman... Look forward to his cunning moves.

Persona 5 Tactica

A mysterious, talking, cat-like being that our heroes met in another world. After being saved by Joker, he tags along with the group. He knows a lot about this world, and so he acts as a guide, as well a mascot. His codename is “Mona.” His Persona is Zorro.

Trivia

• In Japanese, Morgana notably uses the archaic personal pronoun wagahai (吾輩, though spelled out in katakana as ワガハイ) to refer to himself. This pronoun, which is formal and carries the connotation of perceived nobility and self-importance, is largely obsolete in modern usage, but can still be seen in fiction. This is usually due to a common association with the novel I Am a Cat (Japanese: 吾輩は猫である, romanized Wagahai wa neko de aru) by Natsume Sōseki, in which it is used to convey the title character's perceived superiority to humans. Morgana's usage of the pronoun not only references this association and his intended "gentlemanliness", but his frequent retort that "I am not a cat!" (Japanese: ワガハイは猫じゃねえ!, romanized Wagahai wa neko ja nē!) is the very opposite of the book's title, and exemplifies his speech using ironically informal contractions such as ja nē for de wa nai ("am not").

• In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, one of the lines that play during Joker's Final Smash is edited to fit Ultimate's E10+ rating, with "Time for some bloodshed!" being changed to "Time for some brutality!"

• The visual effect when Morgana runs in the Metaverse is an idea intended to contrast reality with unreality.

• For the 30th anniversary celebration of the Persona series at Sea Paradise, Morgana was paired with a Japanese bullhead shark. The shark's Japanese name is nekozame, with neko meaning cat.
