Chefei is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Chefei is based on shapeshifting fox spirits, a concept originating in Chinese folklore and spreading across East Asia. However, it is unknown if she is an original demon based on that concept or if she has a basis in anything more specific. The Chinese localization of Shin Megami Tensei: Liberation Dx2 renames this demon Mo Xi, a woman said to have been a concubine of King Jie of the Xia dynasty. This is likely due to interpretation of Chefei as the Sino-Japanese reading of 桀妃 Jié fēi, meaning "concubine of Jie". In the Spring and Autumn Annals of Wu and Yue, Mo Xi is listed together with Daji and Bao Si as concubines blamed for the downfall of dynasties; Daji was said in folklore to have been a fox spirit in disguise. However, it cannot be said with certainty if this was the original intention or if it was only an interpretation of the Chinese localizers.
Design
Chefei has eight different forms, each incorporating elements of foxes with multiple tails. Some of the forms have humanoid features and wear Chinese-style clothing.
In the first form, Chefei appears as a small yellow fox with two tails.
In the second form, Chefei appears in a humanoid form with three fox tails and wears a dotera and a fox mask.
In the third form, Chefei appears as a bare-chested, silver haired woman with four fox tails who rides an umbrella.
In the fourth form, Chefei appears as a divine-looking woman in traditional Chinese garments with five fox tails.
In the fifth form, Chefei appears as an orange fox with six tails.
In the sixth form, Chefei appears as a silver fox with a poison stone.
In the seventh form, Chefei appears as a rotting skeleton fox with nine tails, which Kaneko has said he thinks of as a fox dragon.
In the eighth form, Chefei appears as a white fox spirit with several tails splitting off each other and from its body.

Chefei appears as the boss of the World of Greed. Her strength and form change depending on how much the Protagonist has looted from the dungeon.
The Protagonist can also see what's in each of Chefei's treasure chests without taking anything if their inventory is full because it will be put back.
First Form
Chefei appears as a small yellow fox with two tails, and the dialogue style incorporates the Japanese onomotopeia for a fox's cry, kon (コン), which gives an animalistic feel, which may seem cute or a bit childish as well, and the usage of omae to refer to the Protagonist might sound more male since omae is used by males more often than females, though it's not impossible for a female to use it.
When approached, Chefei says she can't steal any power from humans with no greed like the Protagonist, and after being defeated, Chefei says she has no power and she knew it wouldn't do any good to fight.
Second Form
Chefei appears in a humanoid form with three fox tails and wears a dotera and a fox mask, and the dialogue style sounds more colloquial; like how a real person would talk. Additionally, the trailing after some words can give a childish feel, and the usage of omae is more masculine.
When approached, Chefei says it's lame the Protagonist didn't even take anything at all and that's boring, and after being defeated Chefei says it's lame they lost and boring.
Third Form
Chefei appears as a bare chested, silver haired woman with four fox tails, riding an umbrella, and the dialogue style sounds more feminine with the usage of atashi and ara.
When approached, Chefei says it's rare to see someone with such little greed like the Protagonist, and after being defeated, Chefei remarks she lost and she was no good.
Fourth Form
Chefei appears as a divine looking woman in traditional Japanese garments with five fox tails, and the dialogue style still sounds feminine with the usage of atashi, wa, a–ra, and ara ara.
When approached, Chefei says the Protagonist is quite greedy and nothing good will come of it, and after being defeated, Chefei gets surprised she lost.
Fifth Form
Chefei appears as an orange fox with six tails, and the dialogue sounds feminine with the usage of wa (わ) and the hohohoho laugh, which is typically used by evil queens or spoiled rich girls. It gives an arrogant, theatrical feeling.
When approached, Chefei says a greedy human has appeared and laughs, then says greedy humans should die an ugly death, and after being defeated, Chefei remarks she didn't think she'd lose to such a greedy human and apologizes to her lord, the Deity Emperor (Chefei uses ~sama when referring to him).
Sixth Form
Chefei appears as a silver fox with a poison stone, and the dialogue style becomes masculine with the usage of omae to refer to the Protagonist, along with the more masculine style of laugh, hahahaha, and now ending sentences with da (だ), which is more assertive.
When approached, Chefei says her power is more than enough thanks to the Protagonist for being so greedy and then laughs, and after being defeated, Chefei gets disappointed and remarks her power should've been more than enough.
Seventh Form
Chefei appears as a rotting skeleton fox with nine tails, and the dialogue style feels archaeic and theatrical with the usage of wa/ware (我) and overall phrasing.
When approached, Chefei says It is the greed of mankind that becomes her power, and after being defeated, Chefei says the Protagonist's greed will eventually destroy them.
Eighth Form
Chefei appears as a white fox spirit with several tails splitting off each other and from its body, and the dialogue style feels archaeic and theatrical with the usage of kisama (きさま) and the overall phrasing.
When approached, Chefei says greedy mortals like the Protagonist are beyond salvation and to prepare to reap their recompense, and after being defeated, Chefei says there is no hope for the Protagonist.
Novel Appearances
Chefei isn't loyal to the Deity Emperor here.
