Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner: A’s Test Server is a 2006 role-playing video game for mobile phones and a spin-off of the Digital Devil Saga series. It was developed by Interactive Brains[1] and published by BBMF in cooperation with Atlus. The game was initially released for NTT Docomo mobile devices through the MegaTen α mobile website and was split into two releases,[2] with the prologue released on December 7, 2006,[3] and the second half released on February 26, 2007,[4] both under a monthly subscription fee of ¥315. Versions for the Megami Tensei mobile website were later made available via Yahoo! Keitai on April 18, 2007 and EZweb on September 13th, 2007, priced at ¥525.[5][6] A re-release as part of the G-Mode Archives+ series for Steam and Nintendo Switch was announced on March 9th, 2026[7] and released on April 16 of the same year. Its story is based on an original scenario written specifically for mobile phones and is independent of the plot of Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner and Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2.[8]

Synopsis

Serph awakens within a vast, sealed tower with no memory of his identity or how he came to be there. Isolated within the structure, he begins exploring its many levels in search of answers. As Serph ventures deeper into the tower, fragments of the truth surrounding his past and the circumstances of his confinement gradually come to light.

Gameplay

The game uses the same Press Turn System as Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner and Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner 2, in which the types of attacks performed on an opponent change the number of actions available during a turn.[9] The Mantra grid system was changed from a flowchart to a fusion system in which Mantras are combined.[10]
