Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux	Monsters that come from the bastardization of certain clans in Japan. The word stems from "tsuchigomori," which means "dirt-dweller." Those who did not pledge allegiance to the Imperial Court were called this because they lived in caves or holes. Over time, the word took on a literal meaning and reimagined them as spiders or the manifestations of the grudges left behind by those put to death by the Imperial Court.
Shin Megami Tensei V	Monsters said to come from the bastardization of certain clans of Japan. The word carries the literal meaning of "dirt spider." Those who did not pledge allegiance to the Imperial Court were called this derogatory term because of their short stature and spindly limbs. As time passed, people may have misinterpreted the name for a literal meaning and made them into spiders, or perhaps the manifestations of grudges of those who were persecuted by the Imperial Court.
Raidou Kuzunoha vs. the Soulless Army	A wild god shaped like a giant spider, which was said to have lived in Mt. Katsuragi. Originally a native of the land who lived in a hole after its tribe was defeated by the Imperial Court.

Last Bible Special	古来より隠れた場所に住む妖怪。もともと定住民族だったが、手足が長く背が低い、その姿から「ツチグモ」と呼ばれて迫害を受け、その怨念で妖怪になった。 Translation: A youkai that has lived in the shadows since ancient times. At first, they were an ancient people who received persecution and were called "Tsuchigumo" due to their long limbs and short body, and their grudge turned them into a youkai.
