Biography
Early Life
Tsukasa Masuko was born on April 3, 1963, in Hokkaido, Japan.[1] After graduating from Ashibetsu High School in 1982, he studied sound engineering while working at an arcade in Shinjuku. During this time he was scouted by Naoya Harano, then managing director of Tehkan (later known as Tecmo), who was a customer at the arcade.[2] Masuko subsequently joined Tehkan as a part-time sound engineer around November 1982 while continuing his studies at Japan Electronics College, from which he graduated in 1984.
Career
Masuko became a full-time employee at Tehkan in 1984 and worked there until 1986.[2] During his time at the company he contributed to the sound of several arcade games, including Bomb Jack, Star Force, and Mighty Bomb Jack.
In 1986 he transferred to Atlus, a company founded by Harano, and became one of its seven founding members. At Atlus he worked as a sound designer on numerous early titles, including Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei and Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II.
Masuko left Atlus in 1990 but continued to contribute to the Megami Tensei series as a freelancer, beginning with Shin Megami Tensei.[3] He later worked on additional entries in the franchise and handled the sound design for Giten Megami Tensei: Tokyo Revelation.
In 2023 he crowdfunded an arrangement CD album for Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei and Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei II, titled Megami Tensei I · II ReArrange. The album was released in 2024 and was sold through Bandai Namco's online store, Asobi Store, alongside an alternate Rough Arrange Version.
Personal Life
Masuko has used several aliases during his career, including macco and Project SATAN. He resides in Hachioji, Tokyo, with his wife.
