Jánošík is a Persona in Persona 5: The Phantom X. It is the initial Persona of the protagonist, Nagisa Kamisiro.

Origin

Juraj Jánošík was a highwayman active in what is now Slovakia (then part of the Kingdom of Hungary) from 1711 until his execution in 1713. Various legends developed surrounding him which are similar to the English legends of Robin Hood, robbing from the rich and giving to the poor; these legends are heavily romanticized and do not reflect the historical life of Jánošík.

Gameplay

Persona 5: The Phantom X

Jánošik is the only Persona whose rank can be increased, from rank I all the way to rank IX. The unique item Jánošik's Axe Pistol is required to upgrade his rank, which can be obtained from star rewards for completing the Technician levels of The Velvet Trials, or completing certain missions from Lufel's "Business" Plan. Jánošik's Seal is also necessary to overclock the Persona, and is obtainable from ticket rewards in Mementos. His seal cannot be used to teach skills to other Personas.

Persona 5: The Phantom X	A legendary hero and thief from Slovakia. He would steal from the rich, but never took a life, and shared his spoils with the poor and common people. He was eventually executed on false charges, but even after his death, his name lived on in novels and poety as a symbol of resisting tyranny.

Trivia

Jánošik is the only Persona to have a unique voice line when viewed in the Velvet Room, as opposed to others who reuse Shadow voice lines from Persona 5. In the Japanese dub, he says: 我が名はヤノシーク! 其の魅力で、荒ぶる欲望を統べる者… Waga na wa Yanoshīku! So no miryoku de, araburu yokubō o suberu-mono… ("I am Jánošik! Driver of your rapturous, blazing desire…")

Jánošík is a diminutive form of Jánoš, a variant of Ján, a Slovak cognate of the English name John.
