Dark Elf is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Dark elves are a common trope in the fantasy genre, popularized by Dungeons & Dragons. The term has an antecedent in the dǫkkálfar (lit. "dark elves") mentioned in Snorri Sturluson's Prose Edda who are said to live underground and be "blacker than pitch"; they are contrasted with the ljósálfar (lit. "light elves").
J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, published posthumously in 1977, features the Avari, a group of elves who are called "Dark Elves" because they did not see the light of the Two Trees of Valinor.
In Dungeons & Dragons, dark elves are an evil-aligned subcategory of elves, and they are also known as drow; they first appeared in the 1978 module Hall of the Fire Giant King after an offhand mention in 1977's Monster Manual.
Kazuma Kaneko Works II mentions the Eddic dǫkkálfar, Dark Elves and Silvan Elves from J. R. R. Tolkien's The Silmarillion, and the dark elves of Dungeons & Dragons.[1] Dark Elf's profiles in Shin Megami Tensei II Akuma Dai Jiten and in the GBA version of Shin Megami Tensei II mention elves in Scottish folklore, which were believed to cause disease,[2] though they were not historically called "dark elves".

Translation: Place of origin: United Kingdom Those among the elves that strongly possess dark natures. In comparison to the light elves, they are ugly and unsightful, and they are said to be unkind to humans. In Scotland, it is said that to protect oneself from them, a person could make a crucifix out of ash or rowan berries, or they could keep hard bread crust on their person.
