Banks are a recurring mechanic in the Megami Tensei franchise.

Overview

Banks are services that allow the player to deposit and withdraw Macca, items, or both, depending on the game. Banks are usually available in games where money and/or items can be lost when the party are defeated in battle, as well as some games that have a limited inventory carrying capacity.

Mechanics by Game

Last Bible

Some towns have a Depository where the party can store Macca and items. Macca can only be deposited and withdrawn in increments of 1,000. In the Game Boy and Game Boy Color versions, up to 32 items can be stored at a time. In the Game Gear remaster, only 28 items can be stored.

Depositories are located in the Town of Arrow, Meluhha, Tilmun, and Atlantis.

Last Bible III

Megami Ibunroku Persona: Ikū no Tō Hen

The Warehouse is a facility that allows the party to store any money or items in their possession for safekeeping. Since defeat in battle will send the party to the tower's entrance and subsequently lose all of their money, items, and equipment in their possession, the Warehouse's main purpose is to mitigate this issue.

The secondary purpose of the Warehouse's existence is to deal with the game's limited inventory space, exacerbated by the fact that now each individual piece of equipment takes a single slot in the inventory.

Devil Children Black Book and Red Book

The Bank is a facility available in towns, either as its own building or as an ATM inside certain stores. Macca can be freely deposited and withdrawn, and the amount deposited will earn 0.5% interest for every 20 battles completed (escaped battles are not considered completed).

Devil Children White Book

The Bank mechanic is unchanged from Black Book and Red Book.

Devil Children Light Book and Dark Book

The Bank does not exist as its own building anymore, only in the form of ATMs. The interest earned for every 20 battles completed is now 1%.

Devil Children Fire Book and Ice Book

The Bank mechanic is unchanged from Light Book and Dark Book.
