Origin

Anat was a Levantine goddess, known especially from Ugaritic sources. She is a daughter of El and Athirat. She has been portrayed as a huntress, hunting together with Athtart.

In the Hellenistic period, she was apparently identified with Athena, as attested in a bilingual Greek–Phoenician inscription in Cyprus.

It is said that even her father El in the heavens feared her power. She cast an annual curse of death on the ruler of the underworld and her son/son-in-law, Mot which caused the cycle of fertility of the land. Fertilized by the blood of men, her altar was constantly supplied with human sacrifices.

A goddess who governs birth and death. She is the younger sister of the harvest god Baal, and his wife.

Anat is a goddess who was possessed of extremely strong magical power such that even the god El, Father of Heaven, was said to have feared her power.

She is also known to have brought back her husband Baal back to the surface after he had descended into the underworld. Anat went to the underworld by herself, fought and defeated its ruler, the death god Mot, and brought Baal back with her.

Anat, like Baal, was a harvest deity, but she is simultaneously considered a terrifying goddess presiding over death magic. It is said that even El, the Father of Heaven, feared Anat's curses, and they say he never defied Anat. It is said that she brought fertility to the land by casting an annual curse of death on the ruler of the underworld and her son/son-in-law, Mot. Anat was believed to be fertilized by the blood of men; several young men were consecrated as sacrifices in her rituals, and it is told that the bloodshed never ceased.

Shin Megami Tensei: Strange Journey Redux

Anat is the fourth Warden of the Womb of Grief, appearing after Cybele has been defeated. When the Protagonist comes across her, she laughs hysterically and declares she will cut him up and throw him into the Womb of Grief for killing the other wardens. When defeated, she feebly tells him to die before perishing.
