In various Greek texts, the Amazons[a] are said to have been a tribe of warrior women who lived in Scythia and Anatolia. One of Heracles' Twelve Labors was to obtain the belt of the Amazon queen Hippolyte.

Apollodorus writes that the Amazons were warlike and masculine in behavior. If they had children, they would only raise the females. They pinched off their right breasts to make throwing javelins easier, but they left their left breasts for their daughters to suckle upon.[1]

Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner
(Akuma Zensho; PSP)

Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers
(3DS)

A clan of all-female warriors in Greek mythology. Skilled in battle and hunting, they are said to have the protection of the goddess Artemis. Some claimed that in order to use bows without hindrance, Amazons would cut off their right breast, making then a-mazos, or "without breast". Once a year, they would mate with their neighboring country, and only the female children would be brought back with them to be raised.

Kētai Akuma Densho
