Profile
Origin
A vampire is an undead, blood-sucking creature in Eastern European folklore, probably from a Common Slavic word *ǫpyrь (see also: Upyr), though similar creatures can be found in folklore worldwide. Vampires became a part of pop culture through English author John William Polidori's 1819 short story "The Vampyre" and Irish author Bram Stoker's 1897 novel Dracula.
