Jeanne d'Arc is a Demon in the Megami Tensei franchise.
Profile
Origin
Jeanne d'Arc, also known as Joan of Arc or "the Maid of Orléans," was a national heroine of France, as well as a Catholic saint, who led French troops to victory during the Hundred Years' War.
Jeanne was born a peasant girl in 1412, but as she grew older, she started seeing visions of angels, leading her to believe she was the savior of France and urging her to convince the dauphin Charles for permission to expel English troops, establishing Charles as the rightful ruler. At first, Charles had doubts about the woman, so he had a council of theologians examine her, declaring her a good person and a good Catholic. And so, in 1429, at 17 years of age, Jeanne, accompanied by an army, was ordered to take back the city of Orléans, and in a series of battles at the site, the French came out victorious.
In 1430, during a battle in Compiègne, she was captured by Burgundians and sold to the English for 10,000 francs. She was charged with 70 counts, including witchcraft, heresy and dressing like a man. Eventually, a year later, the now 19-year-old girl, was publicly executed, being burned at the stake.
Years later, the now king Charles VII ordered an investigation that in 1456 declared her innocent of all charges and she was designated as a martyr. She was canonized as a saint in 1920 and is the patron saint of France.
Design
Jeanne d'Arc's Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner design appears as a woman with short blonde hair, silver armor, a sword, and a large cape, featuring the tricolore flag of France. This is despite the fact that the Tricolore flag of France would not be adopted as the national flag of France until 1794, centuries after her death. In her Devil Summoner: Soul Hackers design her hair is changed to be a dirtier blonde, and her armor is changed to black instead of silver.
