Gameplay

For complete gameplay information, see Gameplay:Shujin Academy.

Game Appearances

Persona 5

The Persona 5 protagonist transfers to Shūjin Academy at the start of the game, and it is the primary location of the first story arc in the plot. Several of the characters met at the school are some of the game's Confidants.

Shujin Academy is comprised of two three-story buildings, the Classroom Building and the Practice Building, which are connected by walkways between buildings on the upper floors and a courtyard on the first floor. The courtyard and Practice Building both connect to the gym, but the gym is only seen in cutscenes and cannot be visited otherwise. The first floor also has several Vending Machines and a Bread Seller where the protagonist can obtain drinks or food that restore HP or SP in the Metaverse.

The Classroom Building houses first-years on the third floor, second-years on the second floor, and third-years on the first floor. The protagonist is in Class 2-D, which is the only classroom available to enter. When school is in session, the Chariot confidant can be found near the classroom when he is available. The School Library is the only room besides Class 2-D that is available to enter at any time, and has books that can be borrowed to read and an area used to study. Other locations visited for events include the Student Council Room on the third floor and the Faculty office, Principal's Office, and Student Guidance Room on the second floor. The Practice Building contains the PE Faculty office on the second floor, the School Nurse's office on the first floor, and many rooms for club activities only seen from the outside. The Rooftop is initially the planning Hideout for the Phantom Thieves of Hearts, and later the location of the Empress Confidant.

Most of the game involves attending school on Monday through Saturday, with periodic lectures that include quizzes and final exams that refer back to the quiz answers at the end of every semester. On Sundays, holidays, and school breaks, the school is closed and cannot be entered except for specific Confidant or plot events.

Studying in the Library can improve social stats, and using the WC in either building gives an estimate of how far a social stat is from ranking up.

Wandering around the school grounds allows the protagonist to eavesdrop on rumors and various schoolmates gossiping that reflect current events in the game or give information on limited-time items. Additionally, multiple Mementos missions are investigated around the school and several Confidant rank-ups occur on the grounds.

Studying in the school library improves both guts and knowledge social stats.

Persona 5 Royal

While events and gameplay are similar to Persona 5, in Persona 5 Royal the Councillor Confidant is available on certain days in the Practice Building. The protagonist also meets the Faith Confidant, first-year gymnast Kasumi Yoshizawa, at a park clean-up event organized by the school on May 30th.

Studying in the school library initially improves both guts and knowledge social stats, but later improves only the knowledge stat.
